Poorly strapped down. I couldn't see anything holding it laterally at the front.

i would be pissed off in more ways then one if that happened to my car!
1) someone could have got hurt poss worse.
2) not having the car strapped down correctly (coyboys).
3) damage round the car, ok the garage could probably fix it but still i would know that the car had been damaged (fixed+repaired) could be a problem when to sell on

wonder if it was a write off as i should imagine the post into the side of the car as well as the front impact would cause some serious damage?

Well, we don't expect customers to sign anything and have never damaged a car in 33 years of dyno tuning. If an accident had occurred, we'd pay for it of course.
I'd say there was an attempt to strap it down at the front end, you can make out something there, but it wasn't secure enough. I've been running 2wd cars for years without always strapping them down, but you certainly can't run 4wd's up without secure strapping at both ends.
It certainly wouldn't have gone anywhere far anyway, as of course the car has wheel speed, but no inertia. I definitely wouldn't want to find it parked on my foot!
