What wax do you use?
Hi all,
with all this crappy weather about i was just woundering what wax/polish you all use. i tried to use dodo juice purple haze on my black bug wrx. it looked good at first but in direct sunlight it looked crap n hazy still even after a good buff. was thinking about the blackfire stuff but does this give good protection as well as a shine?
also anyone no whats best to get a good shine on the blue/black colour?

its not a wax on wipe off type, let it go hazy 5-10 mins and out of direct sunlight then buff off with a microfibre cloth.
i use the light Fantasic (as i have a silver car) and never have had any problems.

I have used Collinite before but find it hard to work with. I love Swissvax as it is so easy to apply and remove. That said the lower end of their range is not as hard wearing as similar priced waxes.

The Dodo wax is great but not as durable as some, a little more protection if useing their SuperNatural tho, but this time of year you will not beat a sealant, some waxes can be hard to use this time of year but a spray sealant will give longer protection and easy application.

I used Dodo juice Hard wax Dark for my scoob, that's until i feel in love with sealants. Nanolex is the best... Worth the money, and protects my car from the terrible rock salt on the roads atm.

Whatever this lot spray it with when they're finished washing it.

It's very ethnically diverse too.

Dodo Juice Supernatural, pricey but well worth it. I wouldn't try to apply it in weather like this but I last had a full clean/polish/wax in september and it still looks good now. Apply it correctly and you should only need to wax 3 times a year, in between I give my a car a quick wash and dry followed by a quick buff up with some detailing spray.

My STi is permanently outdoors so benefits from a good protective wax/sealant. Currently, the car has Meguiar's Tech wax with Turtle Wax Platinum extra gloss sealant. Last applied in the spring. I aim to wash the car every week and usually finish with a detailer.
My son recently bought a can of Blackfire wax at £54 about 3 times more than the Megs. Is this stuff really 3 times better than the Megs? Will it last 3 times longer? Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy to spend a few quid on good quality products and as the Megs is coming to an end, I'll be looking for something good to replace it. I just can't help thinking that, just like with oils, there's a bit of brand snobbery alive and well in the serious detailing circles.
If spending serious amounts on certain American or German products I would fully expect the car to look good, with regular and sympathetic cleaning, after a year, let alone 3 months!
(My twice a year regime is usually - Snow foam/wash/dry/clay/swirl remover/polish/wax/glaze sealant)
