[QUOTE=14N-FR;9720723]I was getting the head gasket replaced and was going to fit the Mahle pistons and rods I have sitting next to me, somehow I think I may need to start looking for a few addition bits for the build

Are you saying you needed the gaskets doing, or just that you had them ready for a forged build????

Should have put a sign on the car when on the truck saying "It didn't break down, i drove it properly." It looks sad on that truck :/

Thanks

Sorry to here that, I hope it doesnt sting you too much at least your bought good pistons and rods!!! Was you driving it with a broken HG? Do you think the head gasket problem caused it?

Am i right in thinking you havent remaped it yet?

Good luck at least you will end up with a rocket ship at the end of it

So sorry to see and hear that, it's a fantastic looking car looking at those pictures I wonder what happened to cause such a quick and catastrophic failure

Bring it back bigger and stronger

On the 16th you said the car was in SAS Ayr having the head gasket repaired?.. why did you take it out and run it knowing the gasket was knackered?

We all live in fear of this one...

Hope she was seriously enjoyed on the way to this sad point in time..

Mine was diagnosed as poorly three years ago, poor leakage test figures, but we've had two turbos, two re-maps, and she's past 400 bhp for the moment... running 2 bar of boost for a laugh...

Alan @ Enginetuner is on the job though...

I thoroughly enjoyed her up until she let go.

I have the rods and pistons sitting here for a forged build so that plan will now be well and truly be put into action along with a M321T. Although I feel I may need a few additional parts to have a complete engine again.

Yep: like a crank, bearings, and maybe a block

40,000, now mid 50's... only shows as poor spool, and a slight misfire at idle in winter...

plugs and coilpacks are fine.

dunx

P.S. It's running so well I'm not getting on with the 2.1 build, THERE I'VE CURSED IT NOW !

trust me. having had 4 big power engines in my car, no engine is bullet proof unless to drive like a granny. then whats the point in having a subaru. that new forged engine could just as easily calve itself as an old 120,000 miler.

editted to say. just so you know only 1 of my engines went pop. i upgraded the other 3.

The gravels look great on the car and they are light too. I've had them on it with some 245/40/18 ultrac sessantas. Its a great combo in my book as the ride is still supple and the larger tyres fill the arches more.
