Been thinking for a while now about a new car, i was going to get rid of the scoob but i no i would come back.
So might as well get another scoob, so T25 or spec c not to clued up on new age. My00 is getting on now and want to try a newer model.
Want to no as much as pos on both, and i want some thing thats special Hence the T25.

I would have a spec c over a mk1 t25 but not a mk2 although can't afford one of those, but I chose neither and went for a my05 jdm sti, as I wanted the extras like rear wash and wipe and privacy rear glass, Also MY05 cars have other improvements not on earlier cars. Don't forget though some T20 and T25 cars are based on the spec c. Go out and have a look at a few cars and get some test drives to help you decide.

T25 and Spec C are not mutually exclusive. There are some Spec C T25s out there.
All T25s are of course special
The T25s were gradually developed and improved through their development, so buy the latest car you can afford. As said above the Hawkeye cars were the ultimate.

I personally would rather have a jdm sti or spec c 2.0 engine with lm400 turbo than a mk1 t25 due to the 2.5 litre engine problems, but a hawkeye mk2 is a different beast altogether. But like I said you need to go look at a few cars before you decide what you want.

Drive a Spec C, drive a standard JDM STI, drive a MK1 T25 then drive the mk2 T25 (or even a T20 setup JDM).
You may find the Spec C (especially with a deres centre section) can drone (mine does) due to lack of sound proofing, the later MY05 JDM STI's are virtually the same as the similar model Spec C (abeit some slightly heavier parts and no engine oil or transmission oil coolers), not much in it between the 2.
The if you just want the car for the burble, you have the wrong car but they do drive extremely well

Both are special in their own ways. And as said, the Mk2 is really the one to go for. Try both if you have the chance.
Heres a little video that may help you decide. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvyFb...eature=channel

Do you intend to upgrade it further at some point? If so, maybe the Spec C is the better starting point, It's really a Group N base and you can modify it to any spec you want. If you don't, the T25 is really nice to have, as it is right up there with most 'supercars' in terms of performance in stock form, which also probably mean better resale value sometime down the road. This is just my opinion however.

That does look the dogs, but not many about so what price do these come in at.
No point in dreaming if can't aford one, i'm not spending no more then 15k. If i can't get a T25 for that in may time, then whats the best for my budget.
The wife did say 11k tops
cheers for the replys guys

mk2 t25 fetch 25-30k so well beyond budget, so need to cross that off list and compare mk1 t25, spec c and jdm sti should be able to get any of them within your budget.

nice looking car, I always thought the mk1 t25's only had a standard us spec bottom end though and was prone to problems, is that the case or have I got the wrong info.

You are wrong. When ordering from new you could specify any model to base it on. As the MY05 cars had the same suspension setup as the Spec Cs I went for the JDM
Is mine the only one-owner T25 out ther these days?

You could well be....
I think Jenny keeps a list of Type 25s and where they are (around 55-60 mk1s and mk2s built ?), but not sure about their build status.
Could be quite a few mk1s out there with Cosworth bottom ends; as a new short block + Cosworth rods + pistons costs roughly the same as the prebuilt block from the US

There's a rumour that the T25s cost a lot to keep on the road ie have a lot of teething problems? Any owners care to comment ...
BTW my Spec C (MY05) had no issues at all during 2yrs of ownership
TX.

Tx i think that was the earlier cars 03-04 that had a few engine issues, when looking for my old one i heard no horror stories of the 05 onwards but a few of the earlier ones went pop, sure big fuds went as well sure it was one of the earlier ones. Although they are like any of the rest it depends how they were looked after

To the OP a hawkeye Jdm sti would get my vote, exhaust and remap and hey presto t20 power and fit a set of coilovers and whiteline goodies and you have a t20/t25 handling pack to, albeit no build number or badges but I could live without that. Even better if you could find the funds for a spec c, jdm sti lumps are meant to be able to run so high power on STD internals so slap on one of the new litcho's turbos and you will have a seriously capable road / weekend track toy
