Default The Next Level?

I want to take my car to the next level.

Its currently at the body shop due to the little off road expedition I had in it the other day! Nothing serious in the end, looked far worse than it actually is.

And no comments about learning to drive before power upgrades please, it
was a totally unavoidable accident!

Anyway;

I am currently seeing 345bhp as it stands now. I have grpahs from Powerstation which shows these figures.

I want to take it higher but without compromising the way the car drives now.

With the twin-scroll turbo there is very little lag to be found.

I have spoken with Iain Litchfield about upgrades when I first purchased my car from him. He said 415bhp would be a good figure for both more power and drivability. This power would be achived by upgrading injectors, turbo and software.

However I was thinking of trying to get in the region of 500bhp or more.

Is this possible without compromising drivability?

I don't see a problem on not having instant boost as thats why you have gears. If you go for 500bhp you will loose the early spool but your car will be soo much faster. If i put my car into 2nd gear and pull away hard it will accelerate far faster than your quick spooling twin scroll. You really need to go for a spin i8n a proper 500bhp so then you won't worry about driveability

it was avoidable if you didnt go out in your car after having an argument with the wench then you wouldnt have crashed in the first place

Anyway, 400bhp is more than enough power for the road

Come to Devon and demonstrate this power to me!

lol, too true, I have taken your previous advice and will always goto the pub instead of getting behind the wheel during or after an altercation with the wench, lol

The power I currently have is enough for the road, just want more power!

But seriously I cant be dealing with huge turbo lag.

How can I see more power from my car?

What components need to be upgraded to achieve 500bhp?

And who can do the work to the highest standard?

Thanks

So let me get this right.

This forum is full of Subaru enthusiasts and no one can advise me on the options available and who they would recommend to carry out the work!

Maybe I should rephrase the question.

Let's try this;

Can a kind member please reply with the name or details of a company/person who has a track record in taking these cars to the next level?

I know Litchfield can do the work but I am not sure I want to use them as I have sent an email to Iain two weeks ago without a reply.

Would have expected better customer service from him considering I have spent 18,000k with him!

Thanks

Alan J @ Enginetuner...

Sorted !

dunx

P.S. Or buy a twin scroll turbo from someone, and get a local mechanic to fit it. Then get a mapper to map it... Not many of "us" have a JDM 06 Spec C you see !

twinscroll fitment turbo.. LM400, LM450 depending on your goals.. set of 650cc injectors and a remap (assuming you have exhaust already?) front mount intercooler needed beyond about 380~400.. although can run on top mount it will just limit power a little.

500bhp takes a bit more wedge, sell your engine and use the money for a built 2.1ltr from engine tuner new clutch, fmic, bigger turbo, injectors, headers, syvecs ecu or remap, and quite a few more parts

Shame you missed out on those 2.2ltr cdb's that were being sold, a great move would be the 2.33/2.35, though costing a bit more than you may want to spend

What are the advantages of the 2.2/2.33/2.35 engines over the UK 2.5ltr engine.

Is it the fact that they are JDM?

Nope, they would be closed deck and fully forged alot stronger than a 2.5.

Couldn't agree more.

I was lucky enough to be taken for a drive in an RCM built WR1 with 500+BHP.
It was ballistic!

DoZza,

Give Iain a call as he is usually very busy and sometimes *ahem* forgets to answers his emails

So dont be shy and just pick up the phone, im sure he will be able to sort a package for you and your budget.

I know the LM series turbo aren't the cheapest but the whole package once setup is awesome.

I went for the LM450-S60 and although its rated for 450 bhp we managed to get 461bhp out of it. (obviously with a few other mods to, so take a look at my garage and it lists everything i have done so far)
Find it a good balance between power output and spool time, although my rolling road graph shows 1Bar @ 3700rpm on the road its more like 3200rpm, then after that well it just gets.......

So if your in or around the Middlesex/north London area pm and i'll take you out for a spin.

Mel
