Are some owners crazy or just dishonest?

Are some owners crazy or just dishonest?
I've lost count now of the cars I've called / emailed about before traveling to view that have a well overdue cambelt change. A couple of examples are a 2003 STi that's just hit 50k and the owner insisted the belt doesn't need changed, another is a car with under 50k but a 2002 so the belt is around eight years old.
Why would you run a car like an Impreza without a care for a critical part??????

I thought I was being too picky lol! I might put a wanted ad in the for sale section, at least I'll be more confident with who I'm dealing with if it's bought from here.

Well I bought a WRX 2001, Bugeye, which I bought in August with 56k on the clock. The car had full service history. I paid £4200 for it.
All good, until I got the 60k mile service done last week, and notices in the service book that the 45k mile service had in feint pencil "belt not changed".
So I booked it into a subaru garage and 2 days later cam belt changed and the tensioner too, it only cost £280 too.
Small price to pay to know that if the belt snapped a cost of £2000 would be on the books.
Annoying that the previous owner decided not to get it done though.

£280 for a cam belt change.
if i was to do it my self, the belt if the tentioner is ok. £40 for a dayco belt
even for a kit with everyt thing new, is £150.
i should start doing cam beltsfor a living. id make a packet
cam beltsfor a higher performance car is always worth doing. infact, i never wait any where near the time/millage subaru state. not worth the chance

I've just had my belt changed for the second time.. MY00, only 52k miles but nearly 10 years old now, so to keep with the recomended Subaru change interval.
Cost about £350 (with tensioner). Damn sight cheaper than a new engine !
Car is up for sale if anyones interested.?

Well I've rang about a car today and it seems to check out much better than the others. It's got 9 stamps in the book, all Subaru with one due now. I spoke with the dealer who did 6 of the services and the car has had the belt done at the 50k service and has wanted for nothing, the owner even had the main dealer fit tyres.......
I need to account for the other 3 services and try and speak to the previous owner but it's looking promising. The only downside is it is sitting at 83000 miles. Me heart says wait for a lower mileage car, but my head says it's better to buy a car that has a higher mileage that has been very well looked after, than a low mileage car that has little history.

She does look good mate If she was standard with the cloth interior I'd be down biting your hand off. I don't think you'll have it long at that price.
