Quieter exhaust

Quieter exhaust
I have had the car now for a month and a half and really now want a quieter exhaust that does not wake the neighbours every morning and at nearly 40 the large tail pipe is not really my style!
Exhaust is afterburner cat pipe, afterburner centre section and a ninja silencer. Does make a really nice sound but just too loud.
Any suggestion. Perhaps just a different silencer?

A couple of options : if it is a ninja 2 backbox you have, you can buy a removable bung that quietens the exhaust note down to a fair degree. If it is a std ninja then no bung option .If you want a smaller tailpipe then maybe a'prodrive' backbox or a scoobyworld 'racebox' might be what your after. Both have 3' / 3.5' rolled tailpipes and both quite subtle on tickover rising to a steady growl as the revs rise.
Check out ebay, pistonheads etc normally sell for Anything from £80 - £110,and if you sell your ninja backbox it will cost you considerably less imho.

I have Mongoose which is pretty quiet, well made and has a sensible tailpipe.
It was recommended by APi David as a true 3" free flowing exhaust and certainly performs well..

where do you get other exhausts from? scoobyworld only have a couple, I currently have an afterburner, but would like something a tad quieter, but with a deep tone.
2.5" tailpipe,
thanks, and sorry to hijack!

Lots out there to try ,but if you want something quieter than your vortex then have a look at the ninja 2. A really good compromise imho for someone who does not want a mega loud backbox, but not want one that is too quiet as well. Nice deep tone and pleasent on tickover.

I have recently sold a ninja 2,and it is no where near as loud as a vortex

Cookie71 - I had similar on my 03WRX. I swapped my Ninja1 for a Scoobyworld Racebox and am now a lot happier with the noise, especially at cruise speeds, etc. Nice burble still now but quieter for my older years.

Yes mate - afterburner heatwrapped decat downpipe, afterburner decat centre section, and ninja 2 backbox .
I live opposite an old peoples home and never had a single complaint in 2 years , till my mate turned up one evening with his blitz nur spec R bellowing . The following day an 82 year old woman knocked my front door ,saying her and a few of her neighbours were alarmed by the noise of his car . Fair play to the old gal - and had no complaints since.
Joking aside the ninja 2 is a real good option and would not cost you to much after you have sold your vortex, also it is extremely well made imho and surprisingly comes with a bung which i never once fitted as it is not needed. Yet the vortex does not come with a bung - and the bung is definetley needed, especially when you leave home at 05.30 in the morning.

Cookie .. I had exactly the same setup .. it did sound good but was intrusive and was starting to annoy me.
Depends what u want ..
After posting the same subject on here I decided to just fit an original backbox off a Hawkeye STi ( only cost me a bottle of wine from a fellow scooby owner ) .. sorted Power and silence! Thoroughly enjoying the car now.
To be fair if u want any burble then I think the Racebox is the way to go without spending a lot and changing the whole system.
