As far as I'm aware paid members can upload attachments, or get yourself a photobucket account, upload your images there and then get the forum post links off that facility and post them here or any other forum with your text content.

Don't have to pay.
Upload your pictures to Photobucket (it's free) then copy and paste the 'IMG CODE'

To post photos, either add them as an attachment or host them on another site and link directly to them using image tags.

To attach a picture:

When you post a reply, if you scroll down a little below the reply box you'll see an option called Attach Files. In this is a section called Manage Attachments. Click on that and an upload window appears. There are 4 sections, indicating that you can attach 4 pictures per post. If you click on the Browse button a window showing your computer files will show up. Navigate to where the picture is saved, select it and then click upload. The file size is limited to 50Kb - if it is too large it will tell you. See below for details on how to resize.

To link to a picture:

Using this method, the picture will show in the main body of the reply, and it allows for larger images. Find a site that offeres free image hosting - two of the most popular are www.photobucket.com and www.flickr.com

Upload your image to the site using the Browse button method described above. Each picture will be assigned 3 addresses. There will be a [ URL] one, a < TAG> one and below them is an [ IMG] one. Click once in the [ IMG] address of teh picture to select it, then right click and copy (or whatever you have to do to copy on your machine). Back in the reply box on Saab Central, just click paste and what will appear is something like:

[ IMG] photobucket/JezzaSaab/pic1[ /IMG]

(I have put in spaces after the first brackets to stop it working now).

When you click submit, the picture will show in your post.

If you have the picture hosted elsewhere, you can right click on it and select Copy Image Location. Back on Scoobynet, click the icon to make an [IMG] tag, paste the link in, then click the icon again to close the image tag like [/IMG].

Resizing images:

The most common monitor size is 17". These normally run a resolution of 1024x768 pixels. The first figure is the width of the entire screen, the second is the height. If you post a picture that is 1024 pixels wide, it will cover the entire screen, so there will be horizontal scroll arrows which appear on screen to see all of it. This is a real pain. The best compromise is to size the picture to 800x600 pixels or less, as this will fit comfortably on the Saab Central screen for most users.

Pictures posted on the web should have a resolution of 72 dpi. Pictures for print would need to be at least 300 dpi, but that takes more disk space. Most computers have some kind of imaging program on them - Windows has MSpaint or similar. Other free ones you can download are Irfanview, from www.irfanview.com/ , or for a very comprehensive open-source Photoshop substitute, the Gimp from www.gimp.org/ . All of these enable you to change the picture's physical size, resolution and file format.

All programs have a similar way of doing this, but there will be some minor differences. In Photoshop, open the picture. Go to the Image menu and then select Image Size. A window will appear with the image properties. In this example mine says width: 1770 px, height 1182 px. Below this it says Resolution: 300 pixels/inch (dpi). To resize, first change the resolution to 72 dpi. You will see that the physical size changes, becoming smaller. Ensure that the box is ticked to constrain proportions, and then change the width to 800 pixels. The height should change automatically. If it doesn't, set it to 600 pixels. Go to file, Save, and save it as a JPEG. Photoshop has an option of Save for Web which does the same thing. Pick a level of compression on the sliding scale - more compressed will be lower quality but a smaller file size.
