I'm surprised that Honda Civic drivers aren't listed, after all us slow Impreza drivers are stopping them from exploiting their rather limited lump of torque from their chip fat burning lump of cheese.

I obliterated a STi tonight in my Civic, he tried his best (Bless) - but, between 40-60mph I totally humiliated the poor chav.

He was only a kiddie of about 25, so maybe my vast experience was what won the day?

This could be very true ................till the 1st corner comes.... Why would u think your civic is better then scoob if u did that between 40-60mph??? Is this how u compare cars??? As much as i like hondas unfortunately the one i could compae with sti scoob would be Integra type r or s2000...drove them both on a track day ...so my scoob.... If the figures u've stated make your civic a better car for u m8, fair enough , unfortunately i need a bit more from a car.

JDM MY2000 STi = 352NM / 259.59 lbs ft - 280PS / 276.16 HP

Honda Civic = 340 NM / 250.74 lbs ft - 140 PS / 138.08 HP

The figures above are for your old car (which is probably the least powerful turbocharged Impreza's ever made), a MY2000 JDM STi (as they never made a UK classic STi) and your current car the Dairylea special (cheese wedge).

Whilst you might have gotten the steal on the Impreza and as you haven't stated which type it is I have assumed a late classic STi. To be honest I think you are living in a fantasy land, yes for a very limited and I stress limited stretch of road you might have been able to keep just ahead of the Impreza.

If both cars were in the correct gear ie 2nd gear for the Impreza and 3rd gear for the Civic in a race to 60mph from 40mph you would not stand a chance, the STi has higher torque and blows you away on HP.

Lol this started looking like a thread best avoided by a relatively new contributor here, but it's got a little more interesting. Yes, I have read through the debate and can see the horsepower and torque aspects of it are if correct, decent bits of evidence. What I don't see a lot of, is driver response times which vary considerably or any consideration of tyre adhesion.

I've had other drivers pull away from me in cars which I am convinced shouldn't be able to live with my WRX in its current state of enthusiasm, and having taken that on board in an objective way, I concluded it was the driving that won the day and not just the car. Call me an old fart or similar, but I've driven a fair few cars and owned quick bikes and don't consider myself to be a totally crap driver. The big difference in my own experience is the fact I've done additional driving courses and won't push my car to a point where I can blatantly see that other road users going about their business are put at risk for the sake of my ego.

Don't get me wrong, an empty road and car/driver skills in a straight match, I'll drive as spirited as the next driver, but putting one's self in a position where the car is on the edge and not wholly predictable and compromising the safety of others will have me lifting off every time when I consider that it's not the best time and place.

There's always another day and another mod lol, and I know owning my Impreza rewards me in enough ways, that worrying about some other vehicle that is to someone else's taste, or bought because they can't afford to insure and run a Subaru, is not likely to interrupt my sleep lol.

Tim

40 to 60,,,,, that mean you dropped a cog and raced,,,, he followed and when you got to 60 he was overtaking you ?

OR you do realise that as with sexual intercourse BOTH people need to be partaking in the activity for it to count,,,,,, scooby driving at 40mph with his dog in the back and his months shopping,,,,, someone turns up with a car that at 5krpm gets ****ing louder,,,,,,, but dont seem to get much quicker and overtakes with the Vtec kicking in..... starts to look like 2 artic lorrys overtaking on the M1 type of race apart from mr subaru dont even relise he is racing,,,,, just that some numpty is reving his motor and drowning out his stereo

is that what you mean ?

personally i wouldnt bother changing down a gear to chase a civic,, just accelerate and wait just go past when mr Vtec kicked in and it LOVING the noise his car makes as he is trying to bounce it off the limiter in 3rd gear so everyone can hear the noise they make

glad your happy with your car though pmsl
