2.1 or 2.5

2.1 or 2.5
Hello, this may of been covered before but i would like advice on what route to take. I'm thinking of having a 2.1 stroker kit or a fully forged 2.5 but stuck on what to choose. My car is a v4 sti type r and will be using it as a daily driver and maybe some track days. What i'm after is some honest opinions/advice on anyones experiences of either. I will be looking at getting a six speed conversion at the same time and my goal would be a nice torquey engine but mainly fit and forget. I know turbo choice will be a factor so any comments would be good. As for a power figure, I dont know? Hopefully you can give me an idea on what i can expect
Cheers,
James.

in my opinion, and it is purely based on my own experience with my old car, i would go with a 2.1......had both in the car and definitely preferred the 2.1.....u should give alan jeffrey a phone, top service from them and car was rocking when i got it back......

I have just gone for a 2.5 forged build. The huge amount of torque sold it. I figured it would make a great daily driver due to this fact. When i was asking for opinions i had mixed views so i just went with my gut feeling. Both builds will be a good choice

2.1 will give you slightly less torque than a 2.5 but alot more than a 2.0 im making over 400 of each on a 20G on mine, if you use a CDB as well it will be alot more stronger than an equally priced 2.5.

MMM thats sounds like what i'm after but i cant do it at the moment as waiting for a claim to go through. He must be using the v4 sti heads like i have. I may have to ask him but is it a cdb?
Moley are you running a 2.1 by any chance and if so what experiences of it can you pass on?
cheers

Very high spec that one and not the norm, we have built them fitted with stock TD04s all the way up to that and pretty much everything in between.
Feel free to give us a call to discuss your needs !

James,
If you are starting from scratch, as in you don't already have a block to start with, and you are considering a 2.5lt, then I would certainly look at the 2.35lt option.
The cost difference between a 2.5lt block, and 2.2lt closed deck block is minimal compared to the total cost of an engine build, and whilst the 2.1lt is great, the 2.35lt engine is by far the best engine option.
The 2.1lt would be the cheapest option of the 3, but as good as it is, it does lack the torque of the other two.
