panel filter advantages ?
Do you mean replacing the original for a free flowing one? I replaced my standard one with a Green panel filter and there`s no real difference is noise levels, just performance......I hope lol!
Panel filter won't make any extra noise, due to the airbox, if you want induction roar then an induction kit is your best bet, but they are more prone to causing maf failure and sucking in hot air from your turbo., so unless going for mega power stick with the panel . K & N are excellent IMHO , and good value for the money.
Not really at most expect to get 3- 5 bhp, but won't really be noticeable on the road, however it will last much longer than a std panel filter. What model/year car do you have?.

As said, you wont feel any power difference and there wont by any extra induction roar.
You might find that the car feels a little more responsive though.
Its well worth doing for the money.

the car is an o1 wrx ,after searching alot everyone seems to be contradicting one another ,some saying you get alot of sound increase and others saying not ,im more confused now lol .
i dont want to do anything that might be detrimental to the engine in any way which is why im thinking panel filter rather than induction kit ??
also what is the verdict with the oiled filters ?

Mine made no difference to the noise at all.
From what I`ve learnt on here, unless you`re gonna be running over 350 bhp (someone might correct me) then you shouldn`t really be using an induction kit. Just go for a Green, Cosworth, K+N etc. Personally I`ll be changing from a Green one to a Cosworth one when it`s due cos I can`t be arsed with all that reoiling crap lol.

You will probably not notice any extra noise from a performance filter and the increase in power may take a while before you notice that too but most find that after 20-50 miles the car feels a bit more responsive.
