Hi,
Looking at the shots of Bedford in the Members' Gallery, a lot of the cars have their headlights and indicators taped up. I've seen this on a lot of track days.
Why is this? What purpose does it serve?
Andy.

Two answers:
a) Because most circuits/track day organizers require it
b) So that if the glass breaks it stays intact rather than being scattered all over the track
That's it really.

Yoza: Yes... I did ask... obviously. Is it such a silly question?
I'd guess that there's a danger of the anti-freeze escaping and polluting the ground in the case of a crash. For the same reason, it would make sense to ban oil too, were it not for technical issues to do with engines

I think it's a good question.
If a stone hits the light on a bit thats not taped - it's going to break and leave glass on the track. Most at Bedford just had crosses on their light as I recall.

Must admit I did it at Bedford and only found out exactly why I did it afterwards - thought it was just to make 'em look more purposeful
The antifreeze issue is clearer - most antifreeze is green, and if there is a spillage, you might think you missed the corner and ended up in the grass.
