Unhappy Rust on rear wheel arch !

I have a MY99 Wagon & noticed the rust bubbles have started on the back of the drivers side rear wheel arch.
I know it's a problem area for classics. Can anyone who has had it sorted tell me did it work & has it kept the rust away ?
Cheers Simon

If you catch it early enough and get it treated then it wont be a problem, leave it and it becomes a real disaster
And yes, my rust has gone and its not come back (on the type r)

if the work is done propa then it shoud be fine. iam doing mine myself soon as it has got a few tiny bubbles on each rear arch (not supprising as it is 13 years old now) and all i will do is take the affected area back to bare metal treat it with some rust prevention first before prima n paint. seems to work for me

so long as you grind/cut it back to bare metal and treat it you will be ok but if not doing it yourself make sure its a good bodyshop as loads will just rub it back fill and sand it then in 3-4 mths its back again only way to solve is to get it all out

Ah Simon snap another 10/11 year owner too
With same problem despite wax / polish etc
Have we got an idiots guide for people like me who to
DIY it
Is it as easy as sanding down the small 5p area treating it with a rust proofing liquid then painting it ?

is the rust on the face of the arch or the under side if on the face its alot harder to do yourself as you will struggle to blow it in without seeing it when finished but if you are going to try it get some decent paint from a paint supplier will give you the best chance imo
