that sound is not produced by a dv, when he lets off the air is going back to the turbo, you get thatwhen running high horse power and having a induction kit on it, i've herd a classic make that noise

that's just comp stall... you dont need masses of power just no DV.

to hear the full effect of stalling the turbo you need to run a fmic and open filter, running high boost will create a higher pitch kinda chirp from the turbo but still is easily reproducible on a smaller scale.

Not good for ur turbo though I've been told, greatly reduces life, and will take longer to spool. Having said that it does sound awesome!

Personally with today's modern turbos there isnt any proven damage associated with stalling up the turbo... it 'did' effect older model turbos as the bearings weren't as tough... modern thrust or ball bearing turbos are very forgiving.

also spool can be aided as there is pressure already in the intake pipes, where by releasing the excess through a VTA dv or re-serc the turbo has to spool that back again.

but yes imo does sound pretty neat lol

Correct me if I'm wrong but what your hearing is 'wastegate chatter/flutter'. It's the noise of air being dumped by an external wastegate fitted to a big turbo.

your right in the fact that such a high powered car is going to run a big external wastgate... but the chatter/flutter isn't created by the wastgate. as said above the noise is created by excess pressure in the charge pipes going back towards the turbo and getting 'chopped' by the compressor blade.

this is a reasonable example... at the end after the flutter you can still here the comp blade rotating against the air as he is off the throttle coming to a stop:
