Default oil change

im thinking of doing a oil change on my scooby, it startd off life as a GL but now has a wrx sti engine conversion with all the other bits too. Come across this forum on here and it said about common problem after a oil change for the bottom end going which kind of frightens me as i thought it would be easy and simple like other cars.

Well basically my question is i have to do something with the crank sensor, what do i do and how do i do it? cheers.

I work on Fords mainly but when i come to doing mine i'm going to it exactly the same, drain the oil, replace filter, put new oil in a then just start it.

You could unplug the crank sensor i believe.

my understanding on this is you have to unplug crank sensor and ur sposed to remove spark plugs, then crank engine till oil light goes out. (its easy to locate and unplug). i only unplug the crank sensor and have had no issues.

I had my previous 03 wrx for 3 years, followed procedure as link above, had no issues whatsoever, Only time I ever remove plugs and disable fuel is on my other car, and that is only as it has been standing over the winter, I do a fresh oil and filter change, disconnect injectors and remove plugs/disconnect coil, then turn over in short bursts till the oil light goes out, then refit and connect everything then run it up to temperature, but this car has stood for about 4 months without starting so class it as a safety measure. Any car that has recently run should not of had chance for the oil to drain fully away from the crank and oil pump.
