I would except that the transport costs from the centre of the universe would blow my budget.

Cool

C'mon guys you can do better than this

I wonder if you've looked at the UKs SIDC (Imprezza Driving Club) website - I can't remember the URL and hopefully SOMEONE CAN PUT IT UP HERE for you but there is a wonderful FAQ section in there about 80 pages plus.

Doesn't necessarily do the EXACT job you are after but plenty of relevant info you might want to consider - invaluable for me when I was a newbie.

Wink

Depends on the mods and the service history. If it has a full service history and sensible mods, e.g. exhaust, spoiler, wheels, interior cosmetics, then I don't see that there will be an issue.

It's only when you start getting heavy engine/ecu mods I would show more caution, and even then, if they've been done properly, there is no reason not to go for one. I spose you are safe with prodrive mods as it will keep the warranty intact and are approved by Subaru.

The main thing to get is as full a history as you can, with bills, and possibly talk to the previous owner.

Agree with Hanslow - service history and some life left in a Subaru Warranty a must -

Worth checking out the servicing costs in SA as, depending on the mileage, some standard services can give you a nasty shock. I bought a second hand 01 WRX and have found no faults in it whatsoever (so far).

If the dealer isn't a Subaru main dealer then I'd also look very carefully at the history of the car - contacting previous owner etc as suggested, (if only to make sure the car is 100% legal).
If he is a Subaru main dealer he needs shooting. How can anyone not take time out to explain just about everything that is good on these cars.

Hopefully someone can give you the advice I suspect you are after - which is typical potential faults found on a 2-3 year old Scoob.

That was the dealers point (Subaru dealer) - perfect car with nothing to worry about. Good sales talk but not useful for someone looking for detail.

Car age from a money perspective is likely to be 2-4 years.

Thanks for the tips so far.

Thanks for the link, certainly some good background info. Dated Feb 2000 though, any newer information available that you know of?

One of the reasons for asking for specifics is that the local dealer hasn't been too helpful. Basically just told me to avoid cars with mods besides Prodrive and to get a car no more than 2 years old (eye being on a WRX).
