looks clean ok,only thing that would concern me is the mialge as its quite high with no rebuild or new engine. But if it has been looked after properly and reguarly serviced the milage shouldnt be a problem

Cheers fellas, it is the first one ive looked at so was getting a little to excited
Im 27, got 2 kids, girl who's 2yrs and my little chap who's 1 week old!
Have been motorbike racing at club level for 4 years but ran out of cash when my little girl was born and for last 2 years been racing motorcross/Enduros (loads cheaper!)
Now my little man is here ive got to stop big risk taking
Looking forward to having a play with scoobies, i will be doing a few trackdays and hopefully some scooby sprints.
Im really after a std ish classic so i can take my time learning and modding at my own pace, always done all my own mechanics with my bikes so more than eager to learn with the cars.
My only problem at the minute is there are so many cars for sale!
So if anyone is local to me, Hucknall in Notts, id appreciate any help in finding a decent car thats not stupidly overpriced! Or with **** bodykits!
Cheers Dave

God more bs adverts
Ok, you need to see if the car has a rear foglight fitted (and wired to a switch on the dash), that the speedo is converted and that it complies with the regulations for imports.
An MOT still requires the car to have a rear fog fitted and speedo in MPH, its also only 275ps which is about 272bhp standard as its a version 2, none are 280bhp, never were, later ones are 280ps which is 276bhp and these run only on super unleaded fuel.

Also it should never have piston slap, only the 97/98 models suffered that so more bs, and no previous owner, yeah ok, they forgot about the japanese owners (could have had 10).
Get the car inspected, may save you a fortune later on.

If you have a few more quid to spend and don't know much about Impreza's why not try a bugeye.........

https://www.scoobynet.com/private-fo...e-bug-wrx.html

Ok they were pretty unloved and derided but mechanically pretty sound and the small TD04 turbo didn't stress the drivetrain .......even at high miles

Just a thought

Yes the Mileage is a conundrum. Is it still in KM? 98000 (apx 60'000 miles) or 98'000 Kilometers.

It is unusual to see cars older than 15 years on the roads at all in Japan hence this is on the limit.

The Japan Automotive Manufacturers Association (JAMA) reports average vehicle age to be approximately 5.8 years and Japanese domestic drivers average around 9,000km annually due the expense of running a car in japan

As vehicles get older, maintaining them at the standards required by the shaken can become expensive. This is because beyond the tuner scene, most Japanese do not get involved in mechanical repairs, and as a result, mechanics can charge high prices. Vehicles which cannot pass inspection are not allowed to be driven on public roads. Unwanted vehicles must be destroyed and recycled, or as some do to make more profit, export the vehicle. As a result, many Japanese used vehicles are exported to other nations right before or after their Shaken is up.

I personally think it is unusual to see a car freshly imported with more than 100k km / 60k miles due to the high running costs. I mean the Japanese have to pay Tax on their car parling spot.

Thanks for the advice mate. If i wait for another 4 weeks or so i should have around 3k to spend, so should give me a little more choice.
Anyone have any opinion on Turbo 2000's? Was thinking it as an option and slowly upgrading myself.
Hard work? Worth bothering?

Write up sounds ok, but not sure. Anyone local enough to have a peak? More than happy to pay fuel costs for a good pair of eyes and and a pocketfull of good advice
I plan on sticking around for some time now

The clocks were showing 160,000 km's! No UK history.
I think ive knocked that one on the head now. Wise choice i think.
It would be much nicer to give my cash to someone who knows Scoobys and then take delivery of the perfect car for my budget!
Keep dreaming

my 93 wrx has a teeny amount of piston slap from cold. though i have been told it could be becuase it has forged pistons (it has one of the very first closed deck blocks). been like that since i got it years ago.
best to listen to the engine from stone cold if you can. it will have some cold noise, but if its exssesive walk away.

i went to test drive that car, be very carefull with your insurance tho.. that car is registered as a impreza gl, i also live in notts (ng8 postcode)and the best qoute i could get on an sti import was £1100 (im 34 with 8 years no claims) i bought a uk 2000 turbo and that is still £650 tpft! i have to say the import drove really well, it was just the fact that its registered as a GL really put me off, although i was tempted

Hi mate, i didnt even bother taking it out. The seller was pretty honest though. If i had of bought it i would of changed the log book to put it right. Prison isnt the best thought if an accident did occur
How is your Turbo 2000 compared to the STI?
If your ever round my way pop round so i can have a look and cup of tea.

the uk car feels much tighter, but the sti import absolutley blows it away performance wise, i would have much prefered an import but the lack of history bothers me.
