Has I have found out in a previous thread I now need new discs & pads on the front and the backs are low as well so will do those at the same time.

My question is which are the best brakes for a 2005 Impreza STI. I have read before that Performance Friction are voted highly but they're not the cheapest, if I'm not planning on doing any track days are they worth the extra.

As well as Performance Friction, is there any other brakes which people highly recommend, Thanks

I just got disks and kevlar pads from Ian Godney at Godspeed and am very happy with them. Perform well from cold and no issues with fade although haven't relly pushed them to find out.

His customer service is good too which can't be bad!

Best place to get pads and disks is Ian at Godspeed.

He can even get big disk conversions using a larger bracket so keeping your calliper.
He refurbished my 4 pot callipers and they work superbly, and matched to a full set of Kevlar pads and grooved disks.
My advise is to stay away from drilled disks, as they crack due to uneven temperature gradients, and imho look $hit lol.

Wouldn`t go elsewhere unless your getting 6/8-pot disks etc.

Thanks for the thumbs guys we try our best to give the best advise , service , prices and backup.

To the OP , there are loads of options available for you regarding both discs and pads depending on your use , if its fast road use then the group buy we have with our front and rear Grooved discs and kevlar pads suits 90% of drivers , we can supply you this package for £295.

The next step up from there would be a better front pad , the fronts do about 70% of the braking so the pads will take more of a hammering with harder road or track use , you could fit the above but change the front pads to the Performance friction Z rated compound , this would add £75 to the above package.

For much harder road use or track use then a 2 piece disc and bell setup on the front would be better , they are lighter so less unsprung weight , as the bells are aluminium they will dissipate heat from the disc quicker , and also pass less heat into the bearings , a 2 piece disc will also allow a small amount of movement between the discs and bells as the get hot and expand and contract which greatly reduces the chance of them warping and going out of shape.
We make our own discs and bells and supply these for £325 a pair , and have a pair of Performance Friction 2 piece discs I have had in stock before the price increase , I can supply you a pair of these for £550 , The PF Z rated pads are £130 a set.

Another pad worthy of a mention at the same price is the new EBC bluestuff pads , We have had them on test for the last few weeks , along with about 30 people on here with some very good results , as they work very well from cold , and driving normally , still working very good when driving hard , they are proving to be a very good all-round pad , we should be getting stock of these in the next few days from the first batches available for the public ,

I always give my prices on here , not check out the competitions prices then quote cheaper via PM's we guarantee all our discs for 12 months against warping even if you do track days
