I'm not sure you can consider cheap and 2 door in the same sentence.
They are very sought after, not just as a road car, but a track/rally machine.
They only way you may be able to get one cheaper, is by importing one from the US, but it will be LHD. Thier first classic Impreza over there was a 2 door, 2.5 non turbo.

You've got no chance mate, £2k is going to buy you a good shell maybe if you can find one? Other then that it's going to be a smashed up basket case at £2k!
You could probably pick up a tiered V3 for £4-£4.5k or my lovely V4 for £5k if you are quick. In the long run it will cost you a small fortune building one from shell up, you may as well buy a good running example to start with. That's my opinion from experience and having built many projects. At the end of day..... you get what you pay for and £2k buy's you squat in regards to Type-R's. Good luck

Might just look out for a shell and in the mean time carry on with a 4 door but only modifications that can be used on a 2 door for the future.
Thanks

Maybe not, but it depends on how desperate you are for a 2 door over a 4 door! But, if you only spend £4k on a complete V3 Type R and sell all the bits for £2k then you've your £2k shell.............
