Where the H*ll has it gone?
My petrol..........put 25.23 litres in on 17/8 per tesco receipt (99 ron @ £30), done 46 miles since, mixed town driving, nothing strenuous & it's bl@@dy used it all!
Now by my reckoning that's either 8mpg, someone's nicked some or the gauge is wrong.
The mpg display reads 23 & i zero'd it when I filled up.
Anyone else had a dodgy gauge reading in a Hatch STi?

You have a fuel leak.....
I guarantee its that big metal thing under the bonnet with "EJ25" stamped on it.
You will get the best MPG on the fuel with the highest calorific value per litre. Something fuel companies don't often quote, sometimes the lower octane fuel actually has a higher calorific value due to it having less non-combustible additives per litre.

my jdm sti does about 155 miles on £40 off tesco 99 does the same on v power. Mainly town driving so not bad at all. Hoping for better after a remap as still on std jap map. Think you need to investigate

WOW, mine must be a good one then, I posted a thread on here a bit ago about my car coz I was standed for fuel and ran my car for 7 mile with the light on then could only find super unleaded and only put £10 in and got 64 mile before light came on again.

'Til this it's always done proper MPG say 22-25ish. In the 4 days it's been a mix of (i) mode S & S# but nothing drastic. In the week before it did 800 miles on 3 fill ups (say 30 gallons give or take). No obvious fuel leak (except the 2.5 litre lump).
Gotta be a fuel gauge malfunction.

An answer (of sorts)
Well today, the petrol was returned!
Drove to the post office as normal, gauge still showing 1/10th and light on. Drive away from postie to go to Tesco for a fill-up & hey presto, nearly 1/2 full.
Faulty gauge reading, must be (can the sender in the tank get stuck, it's not the gauge needle itself as it does the sweep on start up).
For the record the hatch STi can (& does/has done) return 35+ mpg on motorway in I mode but can dip down to 15 in S# if you press on. God knows how low it'll go on a track.

i had an issue in the really hot weather on my blob sti where the gauge read 1/4 full and i ran out of fuel. aa man said it was something to do with the fumes?? only happened the once though and has been fine ever since.
was on a sort of first date too how embarassing first trying to explain its not a chav car then running out of petrol.

A fuel gauge in any car is nothing more than an indication as to what fuel is in your car - doing any sort of mpg calculation using itis an utter waste of time. Doing the Maths correctly is the only way
Fuel tanks tend not to be the same shape all the way down, hence why the gauges ain't that good

Fill it up, drive for 100 miles and then fill it up again, this will give you a good indication of mpg.
46mpg for £30 cannot be correct unless their is a leak on you left it running for an hour without moving!
