Default Help!!! Should I buy this car.

I went to look at this car in the link to use as my family barge.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...1501?logcode=p
We agreed a deal on the proviso that the 2nd keycard (it didn't work))was fitted with a new battery and worked. He called tonight to say that it needs a new keycard and needs reprogamming at a cost of £140 ish and he can't swallow this cost.
It also needs the cambelt doing at a cost of £400 of which he will contribute £150.
This afternoon i've done a HPI check £20 and swopped insurance over ready £32.
I also have instructed my local garage to order the cambelt kit.
At the end of the conversation I was miffed to say the least so asked him to refund my deposit.
It's going to cost me £26 to swop insurance back (admin fee aaaargh)
However the car is absolutely mint and looks to be worth the money.
Whaat should I do !!!!! Help!!!

as above, also depends on how much you want the car and need the 2nd key to work? i know other ppl that could get the key programmed cheaper, id say tell him to not worry about the key put extra towards cambelt instead say £200. then carry the deal through and then get the key coded yourself.

have never owned one, my mates cousin had an older one for about 2 weeks and had no end of problems, and got rid, there was also a similar aged one that my work sold, and was in a out of the garage with electrical faults, eventually the entire steering rack broke, and the car was rejected back to us under the sale of goods act etc, but they may be isolated cases... Good luck in whatever you decide

Plenty of cars out there mate, why do you want to spend hundreds of pounds putting a car right, swallow the admin fee and move on to the next car and you will find one with both keycards and the cambelt already done for the same money

Just my opinion

He's advertised it as having two key cards and HPI clear so he should have shown you his HPI report. Also full service history means cambelt should not be due. If you're asking the question you probably don't really want it. Get a car that can handle the miles instead of looking at a weak french car that's done tiny miles! I buy and sell cars for a living and from personal experience Fords come in with less faults than Renaults/pugs/fiats/alfas so I would get a Ford Galaxy or S Max.

true
a/ french cars are crap and yes ive got one too
b/ sometimes low mileage can be bad, it may mean its only done a school run or shopping run over the years, cars hate stop/start motoring, engine never gets chance to warm up properly
