Default Newbie in town just saying hello and looking for advice.

Hi there all newbie in town here, the reason for me showing up on your doorstep here is and i will go on.
Im a VW Aircooled guy who is about to convert my 1978 Bay window camper to run with a Subaru engine of some type.
Reason for this is for better cooling, mpg etc etc,its been a hard to turn by back on my much loved aircooled ways but its progress.
I may be in the position of having to go looking for an almost complete engine for this project myself are there any well respected engine suppliers who you all use?
What are the things to look out for,end float etc etc??
Which expensive parts should i ensure are there?(As strange as it sounds i dont want to buy an engine say for instance has cracked timing covers to find i cannot get any anywhere). Also who are the well respected specialists in the Glasgow area?
Thanks in advance.Daniel.

Hello mate,

A great move. Just in the final steps of completing converting my cousins Bay window camper van with a 3.0 n/a Legacy engine.

You may need a converted clutch etc to go with the VW gearbox etc.

BEST OF LUCK.

Steve
