HI, yes I was driving one for about two years as a company motor, 2.0TDI 140bhp Sline Avant :
It went back with about 79K miles on the clock, still driving fine. Low down was quite punchy but runs out of puff at about 3.5k rpm, too much torque in the wet even with the big tyres it always used to spin them up. Can be quite rattly when its cold but once its warmed up it ticked over very nicely. Used to use about 1litre of oil every 6k miles, but it was driven quite hard . I've also driven the 2.0l 170 bhp TDI version of the car too and that went extremely well but also had too much low down torque spinning tyres, but didnt run out of puff so easily and revved upto the redline abit likea petrol engine. On another note, my missus had a 1.9TDI 130 Passat estate that we sold with 130k miles on the clock, that pulled very well too, probably a llittle better than the 2.0litre, again no real issues with it either, just the usual belt tensioners started to make noises at 105k miles and the alternator bearings failed. I'd definately have another one if I ever got rid of the scoob, or as a second car.

Had a 56 plate 170 quattro for a few months now.
It doesn't feel that fast to drive but most passengers comment on the amount of grunt it has. Not as economical as I'd hoped for (40mpg) but seemes to do that nomatter how good or bad you drive. If you get an avant it will be all the car you ever need and should last a while.

To be honest there isnt much in the way of problems with the audi A4 although the fan belt tensioners can go and throw the fan belt off and get wrapped up at the front end and brake some of the wireing loom but not common and the front double wishbone suspension can wear alot on the top arm ball joints on some models,in general with regular servicing they will soldier on and give happy motoring.
