Autocar Mag - Tiff's Best Driving Roads
#1
Did anyone else buy a copy of Autocar with Tiff Needell's recommendations for the best roads in the UK ?.
I did, and I went and tried a couple of them yesterday, and guess what, I think a few other people did as well !!!.
Went on the B4368 from Clun to Abermule in Wales and saw a few other cars which I reckon wouldn't normally be there so I was wondering if any one else has been tempted to try them ?

No mate, not much out on these roads other than a few sheep & pheasants which had the brains to keep off the black stuff thankfully.
Had a good drive though Would have enjoyed it more if I had remembered to change the clock in the car before realising I was over an hour late getting home !!!! (cue rolling pin)

Pity that the A686 from Penrith to Hexham was missed out! I seem to remember that Evo / Performance Car rated it very highly a few years back. I've driven it more times that I care to remember and it's put a big smile on face every time!

the Winchester to Midhurst/Petersfield road was totally rammed with motorbikers all weekend. Its a good road, but always far too busy for a sunday afternoon.(and always far too many bikers in the hedges for my liking)
Anyone thinking of doing it should try late pm or early am. It ok, but a bit flat out for my liking

Would that be the B4368 ?
Also particularly fond of the road from Llanwrtyd to Tregaron. Detour there every year while spectating at the [old person mode] RAC rally [/old person mode].

Speedking,
You are right mate.... I did a double take and checked with Autoroute.... I always come from Craven Arms to Clun - that bits a little intesting too
It will always be the 'RAC rally' - the drivers even call it that if you listen to them in non-corprate mode - bloody NetworkQ rally of South Wales my **** !

WARNING!!!
Watch out on the Clun to Abermule road - this is a favorite with the local police for nicking boys with fast toys - a friend of mine is a copper in the Dyfed Powys Police. It has now become too popularised by journalists and some big crashes, so take care out there!
Cheers
