97/98 ESL Live in testing, in my car!!
You guys will know all about the ESL Live ecu, a mappable daughter board that uses the standard ecu. It's been available for the 93-96 cars for a while. Well the 97/98 version is almost there, and today Andy, the brains behind it fitted a mappable ESL Live board to my 98 Forester Auto.
This is a test ecu, running standard ecu setting, so we can do a few miles just to make sure it's running well.
So far, it's perfect, idles lovely, drives just like the standard ecu.
The big bonus with this, is the previously non mappable auto models, which have a separate Auto box ecu, directly linked to the engine ecu, can now be mapped!!
It's been a long time coming, but worth the wait. It will be available i a couple of months. It's a cheaper option to the simtecs, Apexis etc. They can run maf less, have dual maps, launch control, flat shifting if you require, so a very good piece of kit.
I have this in my 95 RA, and it performs very well, had it mapped 3 times to meet my changes(350bhp/330ft/lb) will be going maf less myself soon, and launch control is tempting!
Here's a link to their site:

"They can run maf less, have dual maps, launch control, flat shifting if you require"

Hi, yes it's running perfectly still, Andy's out of the UK at the mo, so can't get any more updates on his plans, sorry. I'll post up as soon as anything develops.
Cheers, Mit

Hi all,
Prototype boards are undergoing further testing in a big power mafless race car, software is in beta and also undergoing testing, the first run of production boards have been commissioned. If I were to respond to everyone who asks me when it will be ready, it will never be ready
I will broadcast when we are about to retail but can't scrimp on testing before release.
Thanks for your help Tim
Andy.

Will this include MY99? I'm looking at (possibly) getting a MY99 Forester Auto and have been trying to find out if it was mappable...like the sound of this but the first post says 97-98 version almost here?

I know that my current car (impreza MY99) is mappable with Ecutek - it was just because the forester I'm looking at is an auto (separate ECU for box etc) that I was confused...
So it definitely IS Ecutekable despite the auto box?
