Default Help- been f****d over on Pistonheads!

Sent this guy a four figure sum of money for some parts from the car he is "breaking" ..... but never recieved a thing and now can't get a reply from the guy!

http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1747090.htm

Thinking this one is definately "at it" ...... that's a lot of money to me so really want to find out what the script is.

What's my options guys?

If anybody wants to try get in touch with him and see if they get a reply please let me know- either that or if somebody can get an address from him that would be fantastci as I could arrange to give the ****** a little visit! Don't want him to dissapear before I can get some more information though so please don't scare him off......

What part of the world? Have you approached the police? This sounds like fraud so they may know him.

I find it utterly amazing now the amount of people that part cash with complete strangers

Personally I'd report this to the police, however I doubt there is anything they can do.

I am in Scotland, Aberdeen and he claims to be based in Nottinghamshire......

If I don't hear anything from him by the end of today I will go ahead and report to the police.....will I be able to find him with just a name and bank account details??

How did you send the money ?? I wouldn't ever send money out in any other form than Paypal - with Paypal your covered no matter what the case.

If you sent cash/cheque best you can do is report it to the police, but I'm afraid it's likely gone.

Sent some of it via Paypal....but as a gift so I'm guessing I've waived my rights to Paypals help right there....??

Rest of it was bank transfer......

If I had send a cheque/cash atleast I would have an address to go by! Haha.
If any of you guys want to get in touch with him and get an address to "send cash to" that would be a great starting point...haha

How much has he got you for? Dont wait for tonight, go and get some advice from the Police now. It seems as though he has hooked the big one, and has now binned the sim card, if the number ever existed.

£1400 mate.....

In my experience Pistonheads are cr@p at getting back to people! I'll try and find out what they have.
Think that number is a "phonesafe" number though so only PH will know the REAL phone number....

I would phone the police first off, and then paypal to let them know you have made a transaction with another paypal account, it might be that you have payed the reminder of the money you transferd outside of paypal into that guys same account. Thus you have two diffrent areas you can start from. But I don't think you will be able to obtain personal infomation like adresses and so on without the support of the police. It's also posible that you could find out about the right Off through the dvla or the insurance companys with the help of the police. But without them you won't get anywere mate. Good luck keep us informed.

Looking at the picture of the car it seems to be taken in a Jap Breaker/Export yard.

I have now contacted the Police and have an incident report raised. Hopefully they can just get in touch with the bank and find out some personal details of this guy/group.

Paypal was sent as a gift but I guess there is no harm in letting them know about the scam and that the Police might be in touch.

I was just discussing that with a work-colleague.....it does now...in retrospect look like it has been taken in Japan! :-O What a ****.....

I can't believe you would send someone you have never met £1400 as a gift rather than spend £100 on petrol and pay cash.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, however alarm bells should ring if anyone you do not know asks for the money to be sent as a gift - it is shouting SCAM!

I dont know if its any help but why not try searching via yell.com for breakers in and around Nottinghamshire and see if there is a Subaru specialist breaker who has that very car in their yard.

I dont know if this is a long shot but there can only be finite amount.

Some you win and some you don't. Obviously you need to do some homework before you part with your hard earned but unfortunately it does look like you've been done over in this instance.

I sent a lot more money over than you did to a guy in the states (i'd never previously met him either) for an expensive camera lense but only after i'd heard good reports of the guy from other people that had used him as well. So not everyone selling stuff on the web is dodgy.

I'm sure the police will be able to obtain his address from the bank details that you can give them and deal with him accordingly. It won't however be an overnight job.

Hope you get it sorted,
Regards
Rick
