Thumbs down Litchfield Imports

I sent two e-mails to info@litchfieldimports.co.uk asking if they can supply STI lateral links as well as the trailing links displayed on their website.

A week later and no reply to I give them the benefit of doubt that my e-mail (sent from work) didn't get there, or was blocked by a spam filter. I sent a PM to user LitchfieldImports last Sunday and still nothing

I’ll be buying both from RCM who took the time to respond to my e-mail

Rant over

Why does everyone insist on doing everything via e-mail these days?

Did you try to ring Ian at all?

I see your point, but as one of the parts I'm asking about isn't on their website I want the price confirmed on e-mail.

e-mail suites me and the e-mail info@litchfieldimports.co.uk is displayed on the top of their website

Unhappy

Anders, I'm sorry you could not contact us by email I try to reply to every message as quickly as possible. We have had a few email problems recently but I can find no email from you going back through our inbox and spam folder as well. Unfortunatly PMs don't get checked as often as we use a number of forums.

If you don't get a quick email reply, please call the office.

Hopefully you can give us another try in the future.

Regards

Iain

Just as a general observation - if a business prefers not to be contacted via email then why give an email address?

Or at least use a web messaging service to ensure the message gets through.

Couldn't agree more

If you can't handle a certain method of communication then don't use it.

Cant it be said that you have the telephone number for Litchfields so you could have explored another avenue of communication yourself if you felt you wanted a quicker response?

I'm kinda glad someone else has had the same problem as me. I thought I was just being ignored via email. I have sent 3 different emails over the last month with no reply. The reason I used email is because-
1. My phone skills are generally poor and unless I wrote a script I would forget half the info I needed and it would also mean I have to write all the replies down.
2. I generally work during office hours although I did try and ring during an afternoon off and it was engaged for an hour and I gave up.
I have spent a fair amount of money with another trader on here on engine enhancements. Always happy to answer my questions via email.
I just need someone to sort out my handling now

Fair point about the e-mails fellas, like you I have had numerous mails to numerous shops ignored after I had spent ages composing the mails > I assumed that the shops must receive a million of these a day and they would be like Dickens giving detailed resposes especially when each subject has so many variables > classic > newage / S-CDB>CDB and so on. This is why I have now learnt to call em. Once you have a relatinship with a shop I think you will then get responses to your mails.

Make a simple and concise list and refer to it. If you struggle with the replies then record the conversations. Perfectly legal and only one party to the conversation need be aware.

Always had excellent response from Litchfields. Emails responded to and excellent service over the phone. Prefer the phone call method anyway, always a better response.
Great advice and product back up.

imo a business needs to be aware of all forms of communication that a customer might use allbeit e-mail or phone or carrier pidgeon (maybe not so much the last one!) as it was a wasted opportunity to earn more money and continually grow the customer database. that customer might never use them again now because they fell at the first hurdle and in this age of customer relations where each customer demands a little bit more from a business so a business needs to keep on top of them and provide that service.

As an aside to this thread I just thought that I would post up about the excellent service I have received from Litchfield Imports.

I ordered a replacement RA-R gear **** from them on Saturday afternoon approx 1pm to replace a Prodrive one fitted to my Spec C, it arrived first thing this morning. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and they were £18 cheaper not including carriage (for which Litchfield did not charge) for the gear **** which was on sale on eBay coming from Japan.

And having spoken to Iain previously about a Spec C he had for sale, he had nothing but good and free advice on how to sell my S202 so I could maximise the price attained. Unfortunately his Spec C sold just before I sold my car but he did not have to offer me guidance and could quite easily have given me a rock bottom trade-in price and maximised his own profit. He also rang me back when he said he would, which is a rather rare thing these days.

Ditto above comments. Iain or Jen always return calls I have made and having purchased two cars from him I have always recieved excellent service.

The problem with many people using electronic media is they lose the ability to communicate like normal humans should, voice and eye contact is really good.

Practice it sometimes.

You make eye contact over the phone - genius!!

That is to ignore the practicality of the fact that sometimes people cannot use the phone during business hours. Email is easy.

It also does not recognise people who do not have strong vocal or auditory skills, or perhaps confidence and so email may be easier.

We are all individuals and we all have different strengths and weaknesses - the differing communication media reflect that.

+1, it kinda saddens me that people do not pick up the phone first or call if the email is not responded to. Just how difficult is it really to pick up the phone.

Anders - wanting confirmation by email is just fine but perhaps a call to Litchfield before this post would look a lot more adult/business like thing to do - imho.

I do not like the way society seems to be going with communication or the lack of F2F or actually holding a conversation. It seems to be getting more reliant on emails text and fecking facebook/social networking and that is our loss as a society.

Oh and the day i start 'tweeting' is the day you can club me to death - straight up!
