Question Is This Normal???

hi all,
just wondering if i should be concerned about the noise of my engine or was just wondering if this is how most of your motors sound.
When pressing the accelerator with vehicle stood still and also when accelerating through the gears especially through 1st and 2nd i get a distinctive whine or whining noise, not sure if it needs a look at or this is normal, your views would be greatly recieved.
thanks
alan.

need to get someone to rev it and get ya head under bonnet, listen round belt areas, pas pump and near timing covers, if not then its more than likely the box.

The fluid seems fine,it is only noticable in neutral,1st and 2nd bit like the bug eye post above, hard to tell where its coming from, dont really know the characteristic noises of a scoobs apart from the exhaust burble lol.it definately sounds like from engine area.

push your foot down on the clutch and then rev the engine, with your foot on the clutch you are essentially disengaging the mechanical drive from the gearbox internals. Thusly removing the gearbox from the equasion. however if it's from 1st and 2nd then goes when in 3rd, i'd say you have the same issue as me!

While the car is moving take it out of gear, if it stops whining then its the gearbox, if it doesnt then it could be the front diff, PAS pump or alternator. Wont be diff though if it whines when the car is stood still
