Newly fitted 4 Pot 330 mm AP's. Every thing was ok now am suffering from severe squeal from both sides.
Not driven the car hard and heated the brakes up yet since they were fitted (weather!!!)Can any body advise me as it is concerning me. The severity is variable!
Thanks
Geoff

BRAKE SQUEL IS CAUSED BY YOUR PADS VIBRATING AGAINST THE DISCS, HAVE YOUR PADS BEEN APLIED WITH BRAKE GREASE? AS THIS ABSORBS THE VIBRATION. IF NOT TRY WORTHS HIGH TEMPERATURE BRAKE GREASE INSTEAD OF COPERSLIP AS WITH YOUR HIGH PERFORMACE BRAKES COPERSLIP WILL JUST GET BURNT OFF.

I've got the 305mm AP's and the only time they squeel is when I've given the brakes a real hammering , when cold or reasonably warm they are silent . Try re-greasing the pads again . Squeeling also depends on which type of pads are fitted , if they are like the type that were supplied with the 305's then they were mintex , these squeel anyway
Hope this helps Dave

Did you go for the Carbon Met pads? if so then its normal for them to squeel as I get it all the time, after bedding in they constantly squeel.

I wouldn't worry about it mate if the above is what youve got.

Yep - it can be a problem with performance pads. My previous 911 had big probs with regard to squeal - even after spending nearly £150 with anti-squeal grease (and rebuild)- it never went away.....Worst thing is *NOT* getting them up to temperature 'cos they get glazed & squeal more...........
Good luck

Given it some stick and problem has drastically reduced only slight squeal when braking very slowly - Panic over (The brakes are superb!!)Thanks for the contributions

Harj, I was running Carbon Met. pads since buying the AP's, I have NEVER had squeel!

Geoff, you dont state which compound you are using? If your using something stonger than the 'Z' rated then they will squeel, 'Z's dont.

Geoff P

Phone Pete Collen at AP Racing in Coventry.

The squealing is unusual so speak to AP and get a definative answer.

Squealing is normal with some pads. A spirited drive to de-glaze them is all that's normally required.

Cool

Been out for a 'spirited drive' and absolutely cooked the brakes, allowed them to cool and there appears to be no problem now apart from the residual burning smell. Thanks for the advice really appreciated
