Default Advice Please - Recommended Insurers for modified 2007 STI Type UK

Hi,

Will be picking up a 2007 WRX STI Type UK at the weekend.

It's been remapped by Bob Rawle to 390bhp / 416lb/ft and has induction, exhaust, and fuel pump upgrades etc to support it.

My current insurer (Direct Line) won't touch it and a Go Compare search revelas some horrendous quotes!

Who would you recommend? Gonna try Pace Ward & Adrian Flux as have heard good things but any others worth a ring?

I'm 42, with 10 years no claims etc.

Apologies if similar threads have been started before or I'm posting in the wrong place!

Cheers,

Steve

Gary Molsen at Keith Michaels plc is the man you need to speak to, give him a call on 02082880275 when it comes to insuring a scoob he's tops.

390 bhp from induction and exhaust is a bit optimistic..needs a turbo and injectors at least for that kind of power

I kind of agree with you!

Was not convinced myself altho saw dyno graph and also spoke to Bob Rawle about it before I bought and he remembers the car and the re-map he carried out.

However I disturbed him whilst he was sunning himself on a Cypus beach so he's going to confirm exactly what he did and the results when he gets back.

Top bloke!

Cheers,

Steve

Standard RB320's are seeing 380/400, with exhaust, panel filter & re-map!

do RB320's come with a bigger turbo as standard ? Running a fully forged 2.5 with td05-20g at 1.5-1.7 bar with 750cc injectors, 2"5 exhaust, filter and only making around 370bhp mapped for 95 octane and running on 95 octane..

Thanks for the advice re. insurance everyone. Muchos apprecaited!

As many of you advised, I've just spoke to Gary Molson of Keith Michaels and can't recommend him highly enough!

Proposal was completed quickly over the phone, he obviously knows his stuff regarding performance cars, (owner as well as forum member) and answered all my questions and concerns fully and knowledgably.

So feel very reassured that the policy he's come up with will cover both current and future modifications!

Oh and got an excellent price as well, which was so much better than anybody else.

As Gary told me, they take a sensible approach to underwriting!

What a top fella!

Thanks again for the recommendation! Can sleep easy now!

You'll be giving away 20-30 horses running on 95 RON fuel for starters... mapped for it or not...
