Default ive been rear-ended!!! what to do now??

FFS i dont believe it!!!

ive only had her 2 months.

ok ive been rear ended as title says.

do i tell MY insurance and let them deal with it, or do everything through their insurance.

it was a self drive hire transit.

am i right in thinking i can have it repaired at a garage of my choice??

ive read good things about scoobyclinic, would they be a good choice??

1. keep your sexual preferences to yourself !!

2. was the self drive transit the van that hit you ??

3. inform your insurance but if it was their fault and the person was driving a self hire van then the insurance will be handled by the hire company. i.e theirs

4. Normally once the dust settles you will be directed to choose a repairer of the ins co's choice but you have the option to get a quote from your choice.

5. Bad luck but it happens.

If you let you ins. company sort it, you'll get it fixed asap (but would normally be at a garage of their choice) but it'll go down as a fault claim until they recoup all of their money from the 3rd party... I'd be tempted to go direct to 3rd party insurance and see how you get on, then think about your insurance company.

In the meantime, yes, you are supposed to tell your ins. company that there has been accident, they should put it down as non-fault as you arent going through your ins.

How bad is it (have you got a pic?), may be worth settling for cash?

I think settling for cash is a thing of the past these days like, you'll have to kick up a BIG fuss about not wanting the work to be done at an auth. repairer to get a cash payment

as said its fault until the money has been claimed back. but if you go through the other insurance company then you dont need to tell your insurance company till rwl.

You can get a quote from 3 companies and get a cash settlement if you wish to go that way, or go to there recomended repair centre this way you get a courtessy car from the minute the accident happened of ya insurance untill you get your'e car back .

Or pick up the phone now and call accident exchange tell them what happened they will send you a like for like car within 2 hours then get the car collected bye the insurance or take it to your'e own repair centre .

This is from my recent exspereince ...

imho i think it is bad. it was a transit so rode over the bumper and hit the boot. rear driver light has moved out. rear underside diffuser has been moved/damaged. bumper has also been damaged. now there is no gap between bumper and boot.

will post pictures later.
