Default battery acid!

My battery keeps eating into my original battery tie bar - bought a new anodised bar and is now doing it to that!!!!

Is this normal? Keep getting white dusty deposits between the tie bar and the battery - is the battery over charging? Do I ned a new battery?

Please help as well p****ed as my new tie bar is being killed!

Car is 2000 plate classic - even put back the vent cover 6 months ago incase it was rain rusting it - but is defo the acid from the battery.

Sounds like the gas is escaping from the filler caps. I can't say I have had that problem before.
Is there too much acid in the battery?

I would agree, I had an alternator overcharging and the battery boiled over causing corrosion issues,

agreed with above although if the car has previously had a leaking battery? No amount of brushing or wiping off will get rid of it. it just comes back. Boiling water is the only way to deadern the acid.
