If it's for a classic don't bother

No motor factors do them, so have to get them from Subaru.

I was quoted just over £1000 (+vat) for the pair.

if i had to have them done i would find a good breaker and have the arches cut off, any decent body shop should be able to put them back in like new.

Just to add it was about a year ago i was after some, so things could have changed now, so might be worth making a few phone calls.

My o/s one is starting to go. AS local body shop quoted me £250 to strip, cut out the hole, replace with new steel, and make like new, plus respray the rear bumper.

Hmm, there are some cheep quotes there, or have I just enquired at expensive body shops?

I got quoted £350 for cut and fibre glass fill repair, and 'at least £700' for a replace with new steel repair! Because the arches rust from the inside out, any surface rust is just a hint of the amount of bad metal that needs to be cut away.

They're still rusty at the moment, and I was planning to cut and glass myself, although I think trying to match the repair with the surrounding silver paint is going to be my biggest problem.

just get body shop to cut out rust and put new bit in nothing major and an average price is £200-£400 for the outer arch but expect few more quid if the inner arch has gone to! best bet is to get it blasted to see where the rust stops then get quotes, just had mine done paint match is good but the lacquer has caught moisture and goes milky when cold and the swage line has gone where they have filled and sanded it so its going back!!!

im guessing those cheap prices will not have as much work done as the more expensive quotes,as said,if rotten from inside out etc,the cheap places will treat/Kurust i bet the inside and repair the outside, 2 yrs later, rust will eat back thru but its been long enough for garage to not have to re-do the work for free

I had mine welded 6 months ago and they have already started to come back. Took it back to the bodyshop and he didn't want to know.

as above and some others have had done, trying to scrimp and save by having them fibre glassed is only a short term solution which is ok if you are getting rid, the only way to solve the problem is be replacing the metal in the effected area.

i was gonna say to make sure you remove all mud from under the arches,im pretty ****,wahay, about that, each time i wash the car the arches get cleared out, even if i dont wash the car i remove crud from the arches, some of my mates cars are full of mud which stays wet for so long,it might not rain for a week but the mud has only just dried out then it rains again and so on which results in rotten arches, why the rears dont have arch liners like the front i dont know ???????
