Default what gives the scooby its burble???

i thought it was the boxer engine, but my hawk STI dont do it.
will upgrading the exhaust bring it out, or is there more to it than just the exhaust?

thanks

removing cat will bring back your burble (2.5L UK car)

Unequal headers gives the burble sound

JDM cars have equal headers and no burble

Your car does have the burble due to the unequal length headers but the standard exhausts are well baffled so you dont hear it.
You need to change your exhaust really, then I would suggest a remap as sometimes this can cause issues on its own

Mine 06 STI was just the same, fitted a ninja 2 back box and removed the center resonator pipe all bought from scoobyworld for about £260.00 and now she burbles like a gud en mate .

Why on earth would you want to do that? The whole point of the twin scroll equal length manifold is that it makes the turbo (and therefore engine) work more efficiently.

There's nothing stopping you fitting a single scroll turbo and an unequal length manifold if you really want to. Your car will almost certainly end up slower.

ok just to be sure..

my 2007 hawk 2.5l sti has UNEQUAL length manifold?

it does burble but because of the strangled exhaust you cant hear it?

i was thinking of the milltek turbo back system, will this give the burble and extra power?

JDM? what is this? and why does it have EQUAL length manifold??

thanks

MM

Only JDM twin scroll cars have equal length (JDM is japanese domestic market) and its engine is different to that of the UK cars (2ltr and is a better all round engine).
It has equal length due to improving the flow and increasing the torque, which it does nicely, the twin scroll setup is virtually lagless and provides a far better power range than the single scroll cars.

decat pipe + centre section eliminating both cats should sort it, hoping so as it is my next mod. hoping to get a little extra/quicker turbo spool up and in turn more power. someone tell me if i am wrong, could save me a headache if i am.

My 06 Hawkeye STI already has full decat and resonator removed but has Prodrive backbox (doesn't release the burble enough for me) which is being changed to a Ninja II on Friday.

Hopefully it won't sound stupidly loud (dont wanna sound like some chav in a Saxo with a dustbin exhaust ) and comes with a bung for those quiet country roads
