Default Recommend me a tomtom

Can you guys suggest which tomtom is best out of these:

TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes? Europe - 1 month - TomTom GPS sat nav
and
TomTom XXL IQ Routes? edition Europe - TomTom GPS sat nav

Unless you would go for something else (only interested in tomtom though)?

Also if you can suggest a cheaper place that you'd recommend, that'll be great otherwise I'll just google it.

Cheers

I've got an N96 but its a bit flaky. Don't think its gonna last much longer and I'm not sure what to get next.

Thats why I fancy a tomtom. Plus the missus can borrow it if (when ) she goes somewhere new.

Being a total SADDO, I was looking for a TomTom comparison chart before Chrimbo.

Couldn't find one, so I made one....

That is pretty sad mate but unbelievably handy!!

Trouble is, your entries for the XXL are slightly wrong according to the Tomtom website. Maybe an update might be in order?

Thanks for linking me up though
Think I'm leaning towards the XXL

Well I bought the XXL in the end, didn't need all the fancy stuff that the 950 and similar came with and liked the idea of the big screen.

If you plan on visiting the North of England don`t get a Tom Tom because they simply don`t work. I live in the Lake District and every time I am getting a parcel or whatever delivered and the courier is using a Tom tom they end up being directed to Egremont which is nearly 30 miles away. This is just one example of the Tom Tom softwares shortfalls.

Just to add to the above, the camera database is a total joke,i,m a wagon driver,so i do about 150,000 miles a year,i,ve had Tomtom for ages, they add cameras now and again, usually once they,ve gone, but they never ever ever ever take any off,i.e the ones that are,nt there anymore,so my warning sound to tell me theres a camera is constantly going off,you then get complacent and learn to ignore the sound, its not got me yet,but its just a matter of time before i ignore it and there is a camera. For instance, between jct 32 an 35 of the m6 my camera warning goes off 12 times, there are only 2 cameras on this 25 mile stretch, and there not on the database yet,the rest of them went ages ago,1 off them over 3 years ago.So my advice is forget TOMTOM and look for something with a good camera database.I,ve researched this to death, and i personally would buy a Snooper truckmate tomorrow,it has a better database and a tv,but you cant add your own POI,S which i use all the time for work,so until they sort that,i need to keep my tomtom. Also, customer service is non existent,so dont expect any help from them,it,ll take you a week to find their email address, and theres no phone number. It might sound like i,ve something against them, but i really have,nt,its perfectly good to get from a-b,but they seem to have cornered the market, and they really are,nt all that good.I have the xl iq routes with traffic, and other than the above its pretty good.Plus points are,TOMTOM home for updating, and the bracket for the windscreen is good.Anyway, hope this helps
