Default STI Type R

Hi, im thinking about buying an sti type r, does anyone know if they are prone to their engines going like the P1, which has put me off buying one of them!! Is the engine different stronger/uprated etc..?? Also is there anything else i need to look out for with them??

Same engine but at least you know you're supposed to use 99+ RON

If you find a decent one the thing you should do is to get it remapped.
If you top end thrash it to see what it can do then expect to rebuild it.

Stick to v5 V6 as earlier models cant be remapped unless you change ECU

Any car will blow up if you drive it like you stole it all the time, if you treat it well, keep the mods safe and use the right fuel it will last as long as any car mate.

Maybe if you owned it from new. But you have to consider previous owners, and not just the "previous" owner.

My advise would be to buy the car in the knowledge it may/will need a rebuild, budget for it ect. Then theres no shocks or sadness when/if it happens

I wont be ready to get one for about 6 months yet. Nice looking motor though mate.
