Evo Servicing
Hi all my mate wants to buy an Evo 7 or 8.. I know, I know. I have tried talking since into him for years but he isn't budging (and to be honest neither would I if the roles were reversed, scooby for me all day long). He has just sold his house and is now on it, so to speak..
Having said that he is concerned about servicing costs. He knows running a proformance car is costly but if you can save a penny..
There is a rallyart servicing centre in Chepstow (local to us) that have quoted the following prices 4,5K service = £250.00, 9K service = £300.00 and cam belt at 45k = £800.00 would any of you fine chaps know of a specialist that could do these services for a better price?
I have asked the question on evoowners forum (which looks very similar to scoobynet) however i don't think may people have signed up to it..
My mate lives in Newport S.Wales. any recomendations would be very greatful.
Cheers fellow lovers of the flat 4.

tell him not to do it......
had an evo 8 fq300 and only kept it for 3 months.mental price for bits when they go wrong and only better than a scooby on a nice smooth track.found mine bounced all over the place on normal a-b roads as so heavily sprung and damped where as the scooby is a lot more smoother.

Good on him, fantastic cars, a bit extra to keep running but well worth it.
Tell him to find himself a good independant, cant just take it anywhere though as they need the tools to bleed the AYC system every 4500 miles and replace it every 9000. A 7 or 8 should have had the cambelt done by now anyway.

I used to own an Evo 5 and had that serviced at Mitsubishi dealers (Ralliart Technications) and that cost me £90 to service the AYC and there gave me an brand new Colt to use while there did it, top after-service help - even get reminders through the post telling me my diff is in need of an service (sold the car 2 years ago ), as for the other servicing (sparks plugs, oils and filters) i got it done by an local mechanic (who knew what he was doing by the way ).
Apart from the £180 a year servicing on the AYC, it costs me no more in servicing as the scoob does...
Both amazing cars to own, wish i could own both

right just to clear things up for you all evo's apart from a few i mean a few evo 8 260 models are imports you can tell by the 17 digit uk chassis number the rest were uk spec i will check the chassis number tomorrow morning when i get into work and i will let you knowthe only concern only a minor on is there is no rear fog lamp in the rear bumper they all had these fitted at portbury where they are imported to by mmc now this could mean two things either its had a rear end or its an import and like i said previously as its five years old it needs to have at least 9 stamps if not walk away there are plenty more and im in birmingham jct 3 m5 hope this helps

the car wont pass an mot without it . i must admit it will be hard to find one without having an accident as the power is quite ballistic however there are alot of well looked after examples which will be worth buying as the depriciation value isnt bad on them if it was me as it sounds like he has fell in love with it i would get an rac inspection just to see if the vehicle is good enough but beware any parts that it needs like brakes are expensive the fog lamp is around £80 if i remember correctly and the pads are £175 a set as there brembo make sure you get a warranty aswell asbove there expensive and if it is an import its not worth what there asking for it
