Default Camping!

Me and my GF are looking for somewhere to go for an El Cheapo camping break this summer. Any suggestions? We'd prefer South Coast Devon Cornwall etc but anywhere is good really.

Only considerations are that the campsite must be dog friendly, and within walking distance (1-2 miles) of the main town so we can leave the car and have a pint.

All help welcome!

never been to devon/cornwall camping, but i highly rate bank farm leisure park in gower near swansea, dog friendly, huge fields, swimming pool & decent pub, also large cafe with take away open 'til late, nice beach (horton leading to port eynon), dogs allowed on horton and on west side of port eynon, but not on the stretch between horton and port eynon beach). large field for exercising dogs, toilets/showers clean early in the day and early evening, but can be messy in between.

Another vote for the New Forest - we'll be going back this year for the 3rd year on the trot

Sod Cornwall mate, you want west Wales or Scotland for camping. Especially if you take some bikes, absolutely awsome. Uk doesn't have the best beaches but on a nice summers day you can't beat a good English country pub.

That's right, Scotland - get eaten alive by mozzies when camping!

If going to the coast make sure that the beaches allow dogs; a lot here in Cornwall don't during the summer.

Some places I'd consider for camping: Dorset, Devon Cornwall, North Wales, Peak District......................

Plenty to choose from. It depends on what you're looking for - long walks along the beach/moors/hills or something with towns with local history.
