Default Dccd on blobeye/hawkeye? Worth having?

From what i understand the dccd is standard on 2005 onwards sti's. And standard on the hawkeye shape.
Is it an optional extra before then on the earlier blobeye models?
And is it worth having?
Do many people use it?

It was fitted to the WR1 as standard, not to any other UK/EU spec car before this, it was an option/standard feature on the MY03 onward JDM cars, Spec C's had it as standard, the GL had it as standard and the KL didnt have it at all, standard from 2005 on all JDM STI's.

i have it on my 06STI and to be honest its all ways left in auto, i have done many many track days and only on 1 occasion have i ever put it in manual to set the bias to full rear what ever percentage that may be and to be honest it was great it took out all the under steer for the 10 laps i did, so would i pay for it as an option, NO i would rather spend the money on track days, thats just my opinion though, hope this helps, cheers steve.

Thanks for the info , yeah i guess you could get rid of the understeer with an anti lift kit and arbs etc if you didnt have a dccd.
So do 2005 sti uk spec blobeyes not have these as standard??

I think it's more a case of snob value to most people. I'm not sure that many of us would get the most out of it on the road. Maybe the on the track is another matter, but how many hours do you spend on there?

Mmmmmmmmmmm I use mine a lot I love it on full green when my right foot goes heavy seems to sharpen everything up, also very good in the snow and ice you can lock the diffs so yes well worth having

Yes - very useful. Completely changes the way the car handles.

You should try the different settings

Auto is fine for the road but for track I never have it in Auto mode.

I agree with Duncan.

It's one of the best things about my car. On the road its just set open for trundling around. If I am having a play it depends on the weather, but mainly set around 15%. On track it changes between corners sometimes. I have a Neetronics controller though so a lot better than the std wheel thing. You can set different rates for launch, braking, handbrake, etc.

Well worth having for track, but maybe not so much on the road.

Leaving it in Auto is still using it, the Auto diff controller is constantly changing the lock rate depending on the cars attitude and use.

I dont know why they made it so dam hard to understand what light means what, think thats why people like me dont bother with it, why not make it simple like the evo, 3 settings , snow, gravell and tarmac you dont need to be a rocket sceintest to understand it , i would like a someone to explain in laymens terms what light to have it set on and when to use it, when to use DIFF LOCK, when to the bottom empty green light and what it does and why, i have read the diff settings thread and im still none the wiser, cheers steve.

I'm no expert but only use as follows;;;;
Snow and ice; Locked diffs.
Fast road (private roads) right on the bottom green;
All other driving Auto.
When manoeuvring in and out of tight places; right on the bottom green.
Done.
