Default Anyone Done or have any advice for DIY tracker ??

Now,i cant afford a tracker system to be installed but got thinking about if i hooked up a small mobile phone to the 12v system of the car (via a car charger for the phone etc) and then if the car got nicked i could at least try one of those trace a mobile sites

Now,any ideas to perfect this idea ? (and no smart **** buy a proper tracker) as they are just as crap as my idea for being overcome (NCP car parks etc)

so,thoughts ??

cheers

You could try the mobile phone tracker sites. You pay for when you do a search for it. Not exspensive so might be worht temp fitting one from cig lighter and putting in glovebox. Get someone to drive your car and park up, call you from another mobile and do a search and see if it finds the correct place. If it works a few times, You could fit the phone some where permenant and hidden?

Yes, but they don't locate your phone - just give a general area, circa 1km diameter or something, possibly just the cell that it's in. All it can do really is tell you your car is not where it is supposed to be.

true, but knowing it is within 1 mile of somewhere is better than wondering where it is in the uk and you can tell the old bill of that area etc, just an idea really, considering trackers have their won flaws of not working/being disabled etc ???
