what to buy ? blobeye spec c or sti type r?
Having sold my blobeye wrx just over a month back Im looking at one of these two for my next toy.
It will only be a weekend car so not that bothered about comfort , mpg etc. Just want something quick and alot of fun.
How would a spec c with lets say 350 hp compare to a type r with the same power?
Also the spec c would probably be almost twice the price, worth it or not?

Spec C is newer so should be more reliable. Like for like power will see the Spec C lag behind as older car is lighter. In the twisties though probably not much in it 
I'd prefer the Spec C but we're all different after all

I had both up until recently and although the Type R was a superb car the Spec C is quicker despite its extra few kgs and is much nicer inside and the engines are so much more reliable.The Spec C is a focused track car whereas the Type R is merely a 2 door road car so they are worlds apart in terms of technology.If you dont plan on doing trackdays then go for the Type R otherwise Spec c all day long

Owned both and the spec c just leaves you speechless in comparison, just waaaaaaaay better 
(though I do love my type R I would swap it for a Spec C without a second thought )

The twin scroll engine will pull from lower down the rev range quite happily and provide a really lovely power band and in most cases give 60+lbs of torque (standard) over the type R (standard), which in gear really does have an effect
plus the twin scroll is virtually lagless and the car is more focused (all those improvements really did help )The easiest way to just come out with it is that the fastest standard (not ltd edition) car they have produced to date is the Spec C, its a good 4mph quicker on the 1/4 mile (official subaru) with more gear changes
Then just look at the handling, they are better than the classics, bigger, yes, heavier, yes but not by much, stiffer, yes by quite alot, better engineered, very

TYPE R no questions there, it will get noticed every where, you can do so much with them. Give me a classic anyday!!!!!!

Spec C much stronger engine internals, much sronger gearbox. Seeing that people are still asking 6-7k for 11 year old type-r's for 10k you could probably find an 03 twinscroll Speccie.

I was in the same boat last year, Couldn't find a decent Spec C (In the right coulor) so opted for a heavily modded Type R which will spank any Spec C in a straight line or round corners etc and still had a big chunk of change left over

i have never meet the guy , but he has helped me an a couple of pm's and one of only few on here that i would ask advice and spend my hard cash on his advice
as for the op questions i will wait to see some more answers as am quite interested myself
