Thx Stu,

I need to get a new clutch, then i can take it to andy forrest, and let him do his thing. I believe he has already done work on this car.

When i drove it today, it can on very strong about 5k 3rd gear was unbelievable

It wasn't until i slowed down and put it in 5th and tried to pull up a small hill, then it was slipping.

I think the internals have been forged as well.

sorry mate but can i ask i assume the guy fitted the 2.5 lump into it after blowing the 2.0ltr up?

and you say its had got a 5 speed gearbox in it?

only reason i ask is as far as i know and i might be way wrong here but i am not sure that it started life as an sti. the seats are have no sti logo and are not the black and blue but the wrx shade, the headlights on the sti's were smoked effect and it just looks like yours are the clear lights with plastic surrounds, there is no sti branded strut brace under the bonnet. also with a 20g and a 2,5 liump i would expect to see another 40 odd bhp on that figure, so are you sure it has a 2.5 or the 20g fitted.

hey i might be way off the mark here and i am sorry if i am and i take it back but what is the VIN number on the plate under the bonnet.

The Guy who spent thousands of pounds, is is a VERY wealthy person, who loves to tune cars. I believe he has got a new RS focus and has done the same to that. And i wouldn't assume anything, when it comes down to people like that. Who LOVE to spend lots of money. Oh and its a 5 speed box

Hmmm if its an sti it won't be a 5 speed it will be a 6 speed with brembo brakes, and it will be an import as only japan had sti wagons, you need to check the vin plate, looks like it could be a hash of a couple of cars/mods (engine replaced due to first one blowing up?) But pics are small on my bb but seats look to be wrx items too, red line should be 8.2k etc.

It's about torque with your 2.5. AP Racing organic is top dog if you have a small amount of spare cash. It won't seem expensive in a years time when it's doing the business. (£500 ish)

Harsh!
They were trying to clarify what clutch diameter you needed for the type of box (
You said you had an Sti wagon with a 5 spd which didn't make sense (should have a 6 spd) and its not the first time that a new owner doesn't know what they have bought.

Anywayz- the STi sports wagon didn't have the Brembos but did have a 6 spd box, so there is something odd about the car.

It didn't start life as an STI. So there is nothing strange about this car. It started life as a UK 2.0 WRX, and it went to Andy forrest for a 2.5 conversion etc etc etc. This is why it has a 5 speed box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And no there were't trying to help. I thought people like use only existed on other forums. Unfortunately you are to quick in finding fault with something and not asking question that are relevant. How is it that the other members could answer my questions. So thx........................

right mate i do think you have taken this all worng.

i cant speak for tony just myself here but, your title states

What Clutch To Buy 52 Reg 2.5 Sti 5 Speed Approx 340bhp Thx...

two main things you state its an STI - which subaru did as an import so you have lead people to believe it is a genuine subaru STI.

the other is the STI came with a 6 speed box not a 5 speed.

also you have a WRX interior and no strut brace.

as you are a new member on here i personaly was just saying that you may of ben miss lead in your NEW purchace as the car in my opinion is clearly NOT a STI and i did kindly ask you if the original engine had gone pop and replaced with a 2.5 to try and get some info on the car to try and ADVISE and HELP you as a new member not put a downer and negitive on your car.

to which a post later you inform us that infact it is not a sti but started life as a UK car so if you had put in your original thread post that you have a 52 plate UK with a 2.5 LTR conversion you would of got your suggestion on what clutch to go for.

all i and i am sure tony were doing was trying to help as it appeared from the offest that you thought you had a 52 sti wagon and i was trying to help mate.

so before you jump in and assuming i meant something else a simple pm to tell me that in fact you have a bought a uk car with a converion but THANKS for your concern and HELP but its all ok. i ahve been a member on here for years and have near on 3000 posts have owned 6 imprezas the current one being a 500bhp car i was mearly trying to help.

but next time i see a new member stating his car is running 400 bhp of the standard turbo blah blah blah i will hold back and not say a word and let them get on with it.

as for your clutch i would suggest getting something that has future possibilites as i am sure you will catch the modding bug like we all do and want more power and there is no point getting one to holfd up 340bhp / 340 lb as when you decide to up the power you will wish you had bought a clutch to do the right job. buy right and do the job once is my best suggestion for you and to make sure you get the right one give someone like david a API a call or one of the other tuners on here who will ask the right questions and not miss sell you something you do not need.

now rant over and welcome to the forum i wish you all the best but i will leave you to it

Steve

OP as you don't seem to be accustomed to being informed that your car doesn't appear to be what you originally said it was, and why didn't you give us the full story in the first place?

Steve and I pointed out that your car isn't an sti, as they are totally different beasts to the wrx in components and an import only vehicle, you clearly stated that the car WAS an sti and when we said it wasn't you got on your high horse and threw your teddy in the corner
So getting past the hard part (ie exactly what your car is ) do you have any idea what was done to it except a 2.5ltr engine conversion (none avcs or avcs or has that confused you too? )

Tony
