Default Fuel pump question

Hi,

I was looking at buying a walbro fuel pump for my classic (my00) and while on ebay i found this one,
SUBARU IMPREZA GC8 LEGACY UPRATED 255 LPH FUEL PUMP on eBay (end time 14-Jan-10 20:42:49 GMT)

Has anybody got one of these? Is it worth the money or should I just spend a bit more and get the Walbro?

Thanks

Hi mate
Most people on here go for the walbro, as the cost is not massive I recon you would be better off going for the walbro, buy cheap buy twice

Buy one at your peril - i did,it lasted 6 weeks and seized solid, as gonzo above says you buy cheap ,you can and probably will buy twice.

Better still, spend just that little bit more than on a cr@ppy Walbo and get a Bosch 044 which is a for superior pump.
They can be picked up for less than £120
for example..
Bosch motorsport racing 044 fuel pump Cosworth etc bnib on eBay (end time 27-Feb-10 09:31:18 GMT)

No but they are not silent either. If you want a very quite pump then you need to look at the Pierburg range.

If it's a UK Classic and your not going for big BHP then get a JDM Classic STi fuel pump.

Loads getting thrown away.

Well the blurb states about 600BHP but no one would run a single pump with that sort of fuel requirement, you would use a pair of external pumps. If you are wanting to install the pump intank as per the original (044 is really an external pump but can be modified to work intank) then for ease of use, use a Bosch 040. The 040 flows about the same as the 044 at around 300LPH so will easily cope with your requirements.
Bosch recently released a new range of pumps called Bosch Turbine Fuel Pumps but I don't have any other info on these as we've not used any. They are supposed to be very quiet as they are a side channel pump of a very similar design to the Pierburg E1S pumps. You may want to contact a Bosch dealer of more info. The Pierburg side channel pumps don't tend to have large enough flow rates for performance applications but the Bosch may well do, so like I say best bet contact a Bosch dealer to check.
