Our new project........
I didn't want to post this, but Hippy is too excited
After the "demise" of this (cool photo huh? cheers Lynne
):

after much discussion, Hippy and I decided on a joint trackday project of this:

this will be a subsitute to the Scoobs on track.
To start of with, it will be a little feeble unfortunately. It will only have around 200hp.
And it's quite heavy
- will be around 450kg with fuel and driver
However......
Although I really "hate" tuning cars
, I think it would be rude to leave it with such a low power to weight ratio (400ish-hp/ton) and the next step will be a nice little turbo upgrade. Not sure on exact power but will be between 300 and 380hp (650ish to 840ish hp per ton - think that may be "adequate") - nothing silly of course
I of course favour this route from the start.
Ian is a little more sensible and thinks we should start off with the low power.
It would help my cause if people voted which way to go

We are collecting thee car on 20th April - should have it built and ready to get on track mid June..........
Passenger rides will be graciously offered - please form and orderly queue and bring a change of pants

Hello Mrs T-S
hmmm.... speed bumps may be a problem.
I think fully adjustable pogo suspension weighs too much... we'll have to get out and carry it over them LOL

Thankyou very much for your support guys.
Its going to be very exciting putting the car together. I'm sure Craig and I will learn a great deal whilst doing so. We are both very excited and can't wait to pick up the kit.
The other thing is I'm going to have to brush up my driving skills somewhat. This is nothing like driving a nice safe stable scooby on track. Cornering speeds will be much higher - and not to mention the straights (no ABS
). I've driven Caterham superlights before so I'm hoping the driving experience is very similar - they are fantastic fun
. I'll be purchasing my own asbestos underwear very soon.
At least we have nice wipe-clean carbon fibre seats on the way.
We'll hopefully have a bullet camera mounted on the air intact which should make for some fantastic video footage. and in intercomm system (hear those passenger screams LOL)
The problem we have is creating a financial celling for the project - we have a list of 'needs' and a list of 'wants' but trying to keep them in perspective is quite tricky as you can imagine (digital rev and gear indicators, clutchless shift electronics for hayabusa gear box allowing 60ms shift times - how cool is that)
I will try and set up a diary web site so you can see how the car is progressing over time (hopefully not too much time).
Proving day(s) will be arranged for the car as and when its finished and prior to its first real track outing.
We'll keep you posted.
regards
Ian.
