Default how do you remove crankshaft pully on wrx?

how do you remove the crank pully that the cam belt goes round/ on oil pump?

I used a big breaker bar and plenty of umph,

hi the breaker bar to remove the crank pulley, and b4 u need to loosen the belt buy loosening the power steering block i think

i got the powersteering pully off, im on about the one that sits behind that one. the cam belt runs on. nearest to the oil pump lol need to get it off to change the oil pump.

its timed with a woodruff key, i dunno weather to borrow a puller from someone and give it a go. cant hurt?

It should come off easily. All the ones I've taken off have slide straight off. If your struggling put something to leaver it off behind it just don't go mad. There isn't anything actually holding it place the power steering pulley does that.

can be a bugger to remove .

Some slide off, some can be barstewards!

Be VERY careful using a prying mechanism or even a puller, as you bend or snap some of the teeth. Doing this could cause the car to not run once back together.

Some WD40 or equivalent and a bucket load of patience and common sense will get it removed.

if i wanted someone in a garage to do id of taken it there. . . no point when im level 2 + 3 nvq qualified and currently doing my btec national in mechanics. . . . im ask for friendly pointers, things that i need to watch out for, special tools i may need to use, so if you dont know please dont leave a comment saying the above ^^

Thanks to everyone else whos helping me out, really appreciate it, sorry for the moan but people like that just dont help resolve any problems people may have.

i gave mine a tap with a rubber hammer, shocked it off with no damage. but mine wasnt that stubborn.

mines like welded itself to the crank lol. i've given it a good soaking and left it a few days, its an on going project, bought it nackered just rebuilding it for fun/learning about the flat 4, all is well pistons back in heads on cams in etc but that bloody crank pully!!!

The pulley has two holes in it, cant remember if they are tapped or not. If they arent, just run a die down them, and then put a puller on using the newly tapped holes as the pulling point.

yeh thats a good call will try when i get 5 mins, bmw needs doing firsts, wheel bearing, two front shocks and both antiroll bar links, that'll take this saturday up
