Default Decat Pipe on STI?

Hi All,

Is it a spercific decat down pipe for a 2006 2.5 STI or are they all the same i.e Classic, newage etc?
Also, my current Center pipe and Ninja II are I guess 2.5 ". Do I have to find a decat that is also 2.5" or can I use the 3" ones?

Hi. The 2.5 hawkeyes have a different length downpipe to all the other models. I got a Hayward & scott de-cat downpipe direct from their website. Its's 2.5" so it matches the rest of the sysyem. Also you don't need a de-cat up-pipe as they come without a cat from factory.

Cheers,

Would this fit?

SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI TURBO DECAT DOWNPIPE NEW AGE on eBay (end time 18-Jan-10 18:23:27 GMT)

As its 3" out, how would I fit it to the rest of the 2.5" system? I might in the future change the rest to 3"

Too long for a hawkeye, it's a very short downpipe on the hawkeye. Look at the h&s website. I wouldn't bother with 3" unless your going to be running BIG power, i'm running 342bhp / 383lb/ft on a 2.5" system.

It wouldn't. You would have to change the rest of the system to 3".

H&S are expensive but are very good quaity and fit, my mates got a ebay full 3" turbo back system and none of the fixing brackets are in the right place, the closest is 2" away.

All H&S downpipes are around £200. Some of the stuff on ebay is sh*t quality and fitment. I've got a H&S decat downpipe, H&S decat 2nd pipe, ninja center section and tsl firestorm back box on my hawkeye, quality and fitment is spot on

Some are downpipe and 2nd cat pipe all in one and might fit, but when it comes to MOT time all i do is fit the 2nd cat back on and leave the decat downpipe on, just need to get it hot and it fly's through the emission test.

Arrrrrrrrrrrr I see, I was talking about the one piece ones. I was told not to do the two piece as fitting the second cat wouldnt get it through its MOT so no point doing it and driving it mapped with the second cat fitted was dangerous to the engine?

I only drive it to the mot station and back, you don't have to rev the nuts off it to get it hot. Only takes 20 mins to change it, 4 bolts and oxy sensor.

Did you see what sort of job it was, I am torn between a one piece pipe and a freindly MOT Station or two piece and refitting second cat. Is there any difference in the two piece types from STI, WRX and newage and Hawkeye?

Sti & wrx hawkeye 2 piece types are the same, classic, bugeye and blobeye are different.
I was going to do it myself, but the nuts can be a pain in the **** and the studs can snap off too, need to spray lots of wd40 on.

If it's a 1 piece it will be, 2 piece the hawkeye has a shorter downpipe and longer 2nd cat pipe, so if you got a downpipe of a blobeye it would be too long for your 2nd cat pipe, i supose you could fit a blobeye downpipe and blobeye 2nd cat pipe, as the all bugeye, blobeye and hawkeye center sections are all the same. But they your 2nd cat pipe wouldn't fit for mot time.

Hi Guys,

if you remove the second cat (1 between down pipe & centre section) does this cause the engine management light to come on. Are they any issues with removing the second cat without a remap
