On the boot lid of the car it says WRX on 1 side and STI on the other? any help will be greatly appreciated as i need to know so i can start the upgrades/mods. MY is the Model Year. Mine 94 car is therefore an MY94.

Yours will be 01/02 most likely, what it won't be is an MY51/52/53 etc, as Subaru weren't making Impreza's in the Fifty's.

2001 (MY01)is the easiest way of looking at it, from the start of your reg plate. It went kind of **** up when the 2 plate changes a year were brought in.

What does it say in your log book with regards to STI, a mate had a UK Bug Sti, and it was on the log book as that; Impreza WRX STI Type UK.

If it's an import could well be different on your logbook.

Has it got Brembo's and a 6 speed box?

You don't need to post the full chassis number. We already know quite a bit from what you've already said. GDA means you have a WRX - so that STi badge on the bootlid has been stuck on by a previous owner for, presumably, purely cosmetic reasons.

For further info just look at the Applied Model code on the ID plate on the nearside front suspension turret. If it's a UK specification car it'll be a GDAAK8D or GDABK8D. That fourth character determines the model year. A=2001MY, B=02MY and so-on.

I have a similar problem.... here's the codes... e-gf8. vin gf8-008323. applied model gf8b58d. option pj. trim 410. engine type ej20gdw1ne. transmition ty752vb3ca.
I figured I only need to tell you the Applied model, but though I should write them all down. Pretty sure it's a '94 wrx but I'd love the expert info from one of you guys

Yes ,early wrx wagon.

The sti shared the same model code though and your engine number relates to an sti I think. I'll do some more research later when im home.
Stick some pics up chap.

Remember the early wrx and sti shared the same model numbers so other info is needed to work out what you have.
