Cypriot import
#1
Hi everybody
I am about to order an WRX from a importer
This will be a parallel import to full uk spec
rather than sourcing from europe the importer gets the car from Cyprus
They then carryout a full undersealing to uk spec
any downsides as i can get it in April rather than July from other importers.

all I would say is check it IS to UK spec and that the warranty will be upheld by Subaru UK.
Do you KNOW you will get it in April or is that what the importer is telling you, people will often quote better delivery to ge the sale then blame an extended period on a production problem.
If you don't mind me asking, what are you paying??

What you may find is that due to your car coming from a non-eu country it may be subjected to a SVA test.... in theory its not a parallel import due to being outside the eu, i would wait until july IMHO and get a cheaper car and then have some money to modify it

Gregarious - HALT!
Cyprus cars = trouble.
I picked my MY02 up from Well Lane turbo centre on Friday - they've got about 35 coming in over the next few weeks (they said) - belgium cars with full 3 yr subaru warranty, and they even register them with IM for the warranty. I think they've got the next lot coming in shortly give them a bell - but i wouldn't advise getting a Cyprus car - there were a whole load of issues round the warranty and the spec when I looked, CofC etc.

Hi,
Have just stumbled across www.hondasuk.co.uk, which claim to have:
2002 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX , ......IN STOCK NOW.......BRAND NEW UNREGISTERED. FULL UK SPEC IN A VARIETY OF METALLICS. THIS IS AN ON THE ROAD PRICE WITH 12 MONTHS ROAD TAX. LOW RATE FINANCE DEALS AVAILABLE., £16995
Not sure where they have come from (the cars) or what the people are like to deal with, but might be worth a try.

Can't beat getting a full UK spec European import, for the reasons outlined above. I would not touch a Cypriot car with a bargepole. CoC problems, SVA approval questions and underseal issues....
And Belgian and Dutch cars now have a three year warranty! Just got mine from Garage Knockaert in Belgium. Saved over £5,500 on a MY02 5 door.

being from cyprus, i can guarantee you a scooby from the dealer in limassol, dont listen to what everybody says and i dont understand
Cypriot car= trouble....why? and i know that lots of english people that are in the english bases in cyprus that bought a subaru from cyprus in order to bring it to england when they finish the army.....and i've never heard a bad word about those cars...also most of them are registered in the impreza club, and go to the events with us.
so if you want the car email me and i can get in touch with the dealer which happens to be a good friend of mine and ask him everything you want to know....
also i hate people that assume things without even knowing what they are talking about
also do you know that most of the japanese cars that are coming to england pass their SVA test in cyprus?
i bet you didnt know that
