I'm on a Halfords Calcium been fine for me, check the tightness of the 'plugs' on the top regularly though.

I'm using an Optima Redtop too, so is my mate but they ain't cheap. Highest CCA (cold cranking amps) possible in a battery to fit the Impreza.

Another vote for the Halfords Calcium, has a bit more power and longer guarantee than the standard one.

Bosch Silver S5 gets my vote. Higher Ah and CCA than the Halfords Calcium and also a longer Guarantee + lighter then oem and a lot cheaper than Odessey or Optima.
Got one for an 03WRX from Andrew Page a lot cheaper than from Halfords and Halfords own Brand. My advice would be to measure your current battery and pick one from the Bosch Silver range that will fit and not necessarily go for the one recommended for the vehicle in the brochure as that way you maybe able to get one of even higher specification ie higher Ah & CCA.

Just last week fitted an S5 008 to the mrs MKV R32 and Halfords wanted £109.99 and I was able to get it elsewhere for £70 so make sure you shop around.

Try ur local Motor factors, Mine had Lucas (calcium) a lot lot less then Halfrauds and its a better battery CCA was 580A the Halfrauds etc werent,
Cant say owt against the Odessey batteries but they are almost 3 times the price of what I paid, so for a 4 year warranty I thought 52 quid was ok.

i just got a battery that fits, varta or something,...crap CCA compared to a redtop but obviously enough for the impreza. it was about £60 from tayna, tbh it is too easy to get obsessed with searching for 'the best' and i had to stop myself from doing just that, (although if it wasn't so close to christmas, i prob would have gone for a redtop, damn you internet) anyway i expect to get 3years out of it.

LMFAO, hahaha, ho dear me. Sorry, but LOL, i am wetting myself here.
Pls dont be offended but ffs if a poxy interior light was to flatten the battery quickly i would be mad. I mean, cmon, they must only pull the smallest amperage??!?!?!?!!? Should last weeks.

Anyway, LOLz.

So, all this internet information on the red top, are they really £150? Also, which one is the right one?

You would be supprised, our trucks can go flat over 2 - 3 days with just a 1 amp drain. an interior light, say 10 w = 12v diveded by 10 = 0.83 amps so if the battery isnt fully charged, doesnt take much lol

on most cars- higher than 40mA drain is classed as an excessive battery drain. (bmw standards anyway) but overnight wouldn't have killed it, but if the battery was a poo one, you may have been bump starting it that day.
