Question Paradise by the Dashboard Light ...

... or it would be, Meatloaf, if the damned thing was lit up like it used to be!

Anyway, half of my Rev Counter is in darkness ... the right hand half (this half isn't used much by me, but would still like it lit up!).

I'm guessing there is a bulb on that side of the instrument panel - and it's blown.

Couple of questions:-

1. What type bulb do I need to get before taking the dash out?

and

2. Is it easy to get to? How? Is it worth the effort?

Thanks in anticpation of some pearls of wisdom

for a man with your vast technical background to take out the intrument panel is very easy.
4 screws hold in the surround. 4 hold in the instruemnt panel. pull out gently and disconnet the multiplugs.
some else will post in a min to advise about the bulb type. they just twist in and out.
you cant go wrong really, your model doesnt have the mechanical speedo either so i dont think you have to prat about connecting the cable.

Theres about six (cant remember exactly) but you might as well do them allwhile the cloks are out.

That's great - thanks, a Xmas job .... like you said, may renew all of them as they are probably quite black now (if the sidelight bulbs are anything to go by!)

Mine were pretty bad, but also had rubbery green caps on each bulb??? Would be interested to know if yours are the same, so if you could post up on here what you found.

I replaced with normal bulbs much brighter not quite as green so i guess they where just some coloured aftermarket bulbs

Iv been contemplating using these
2 x 501/ W5W BRIGHT WIDE ANGLE 5 LED TAP BULBS GREEN on eBay (end time 14-Jan-10 01:35:07 GMT)

But they could be a pain to fit as they need to be put in the right way round. Would invove plugging the clocks in to check then out to change etc
